Most of the Buick wheels of this era seem to have suffered a similar fate. I think it is a combination of a thin rim and whatever type of plastic that was used, as even areas that were not stressed were very brittle. I restored mine with the recommended epoxy product from Eastwood and resprayed it, and it looked good for a few years but again cracks started to show. After I sold the car the new owner replaced the wheel with one that I think was a repro of (or inspired by) those used in the early '70s GS models, 3-spokes in satin polished steel with a soft-touch thin vinyl or rubber rim.
