I bought this car in November 2016. I saw a lot of potential in it at the time. It had a lot of paint fading and the seats were worn and few other issues I needed to address. I ended up getting it painted at Fender Mender in Encinitas in January. The car was pretty much disassembled and resprayed in the original Diamond Schwarz color. After that I just kept on doing little fixes, replacing the cracked dash and cracked seats. I pretty much replaced everything on it. I guess as I get older I have become more meticulous and the car kinda went a bit further than I originally intended. Honestly the story with the wheels is this. The car came with some BBS 16 inch RS knockoffs. I really have a major disdain for fake wheels. The build quality is cheap and borderline unsafe. I really have always loved the BBS look, especially with the red caps. I had bought some refinished style 5s and put them on right when the car got painted and I hated the way they looked with adapters. I did not even drive down the street with them. I immediately took them off, I found these wheels for sale in Los Angeles with new tires, just refinished. I went and picked them up the next day. (not cheap) I did not realize the lips were as big as they were. (2.5 inch front, 3 inch on the back) Some of the younger crowd seem to like it. I am ok with it. But my plan would be to put the 2.5 in the rear of the car and order 2 2 inch lips for the front. Shaving off a half in inch on all corners. They are around 130 I think each and can be installed rather easily. The negatives were that the front seats had minor wear, dash had its notorious crack, it came with an ugly old Momo steering wheel and the floor mats looked like they were dragged out of a swamp. \n\nI removed the carpet and used my hot water extractor to clean It. Google searching told me that 1 series floor mats are a perfect fit for e30. The dashes were getting made new again by BMW for a few years at just over 1k. I was on the back order list when the bmw dealer told me they were no longer making them. So after that I went on a search for a perfect dash that I found locally at autobahn Bmw. The steering wheel is an easy swap all though my horn was not working at the time. The seats are pretty easy to reupholster. You can buy a kit with all of the leathers. Buy some foam spray, glue, and hog ring pliers. You will probably need to re weld the back of the seat. It's a fun and rewarding project. I recommend you give it a shot. I am 90 miles south of you. So, I could not recommend anyone in OC.
