I put 45k miles on that bike. \r\n\r\nOwnership had a long tail. I still love fast bikes and I\u2019m still a sucker for orange paint. \r\n\r\nOne irony is that at the time, people warned me that I\u2019d kill myself on \u201cthat crazy rocket ship\u201d. My KTM 690 single cylinder dual sport bike makes more HP and weighs half what the 750-4 did. \r\n\r\nAside from one minor parking lot top-over, It\u2019s the only bike I never crashed. \r\n\r\nThe seller sure has done a nice job of restoring it. It is \"Candy Gold Custom\" fitted with a Yoshimura style stainless header by Carpy in Los Angeles. \nMy 4 into 4 pipes were original and completely rotted out. The header provides for a fantastic racket, although strangely not on the street where I live, and it looked great with the heat induced gold patina. The bike is a real head turner. \nDavid Silver spares offers stainless 4 into 4 pipes for about 1200USD. These bikes are fun but the brakes are dreadful by todays standards. IMHO the 4 into 2 pipes don't look right. Mine had the electric start too, but I rarely used it. There was something invigorating about starting the bike via kick start. Great feel, great sound.. I found my 78 KZ1000 to replace it, and gone was the Honda. After the crash i painted the KZ a GM Elkhart green, which was similar to, but a little livelier than the Honda green, so that Kawasaki now channels a little Honda through its color..
