The sunroof handle can break, so looking for a correct replacement is advisable. The plastic U-bracket for the gas piston under the parcel shelf is available. My car came with replacement NOS door seals, so I have no idea where I would find new ones if I had to. And yes both of mine came with the plastic tool box. On my Callaway, I replaced the sunroof Handel bezel with one from E-B spares. And both of my spark plug wire clips with new 3D printed clips. This GTV6 looks as if you could go back in time and buy a three month old GTV6. This car is as complete as they come minus the plastic toolbox which to me is not a big deal. If I hadn't owned one since 1987 this one would be coming home. A few interesting notes PLEAE DO NOT TAKE THESE COMMENTS THE WRONG WAY. THIS CAR IS TRULY MAGNIFICENT. Even though the chassis plates and badges say this car is a 1986 it is by law a 1985 because it does not have the federally mandated CHMSL. Trying to register this car in some states as a 1986 could require the installation of a CHMSL. As I wrote in the Alfa blog, I sold these cars new back in '85 -'86 and we caught hell when the '86 GTV-6s arrived without the CHMSL. The Spiders and Milanos had them but the GTV-6s were hit and miss. The Virginia DMV though would not title the cars as 1986 because of the missing brake light. We (specifically me) had to go back and do reams of paperwork to get the car re branded as 1985s which played hell with our sales.\r\nThere are some really interesting details on this car too. It has the later chassis (late '85 -'86) with the short torsion bars and the removable center driveshaft bearing but it doesn't look like it has the isostatic shift linkage. Complies with model year '86 emissions but was built in August 1985. They made me a deal I couldn't refuse so I cancelled the Prelude and bought the GTV6. I was 24 and had a great time driving that Alfa all over the terrific roads in the Smokies. Such a great handling, well balanced car and 150hp was considered pretty powerful back then. No problems other than a weird issue with the fan that would only operate at the highest level or not at all. I drove it for 4 years but then had to sell it when I moved to Michigan. I wouldn\u2019t be surprised at the 99+ points at a concours. Some comments:\r\n\r\nThese look like the original style treads on the Pirelli P6, and Pirelli has not made a P6 with this tread in decades as they went out of production in the early 90\u2019s. These would be totally unsafe to drive, but I would save them on the factory wheels for concours points. \r\n\r\nOthers have mentioned the timing belt. These were supposed to be replaced every five years, and given that these are interference engines, should be replaced on schedule or one risks bending some valves. If there is no evidence of a recent change, the new buyer should have one done ASAP. It is not a large expense, and is always worrying when owners put it off. \r\n\r\nThe ride height looks like it still has the elevated front end that these came with to meet US headlight requirements. Restoring the car to the Euro ride heigh does wonders for turn in, handling and looks.\r\n\r\nGLWTS. It would be a good idea to replace all three flex hoses if that was the last service. The paint on the calipers looks to be in decent shape so maybe a full brake service was been done in the last few years. The under-hood emissions sticker is missing (noted on a receipt from the 90's as well) which will give anyone fits trying to register the car in CA (to my understanding). It immediately broke down in some stupid way. I don\u2019t remember the details but it wasn\u2019t betting fuel or spark. Got that sorted after a month of head scratching and it broke down again, this time needing a new fuse box. (Whole thing had cracked open and degraded to toast.) We cut it out whole with snips and reconnected every single wire. That\u2019s a labor of love right there.)\r\n\r\nA month goes by, gremlins sorted out from fuse box change and the exhaust manifold cracked, which has sneakily been welding itself to the car at every bolt point. So that wasn\u2019t a labor of love, it was one of hatred, blood and swearing. So anyway, once that was done, all was fine. Had the car thoroughly service and tooled around in it on and off for about six months without a problem. Heading home one day and the radiator grenaded, causing the most rapid loss of coolant I\u2019ve ever seen. Replaced that, went for a test drive, smoke and chugging and yep, you guessed it. The oil looked like a perfect cafe latte from the boulangerie in front of which I stopped driving. With the head gasket gone, that little car had rated more of my time and patience than it had been promised at point of purchase, which was a lot.\r\n\r\nI should mention that I bought it from the original owner with full service history. He was very straightforward with me and told me he hated owning it and wanted it gone before the next thing happened. He\u2019d have probably just given it to me.\r\n\r\nWhat was annoying was that, as with all cars I own or have owned (over 150) I always am ahead of the game as far as preventative maintenance.
