The only true exceptions and one\u2019s of \u201csingularity\u201d as you describe refer to older pieces when the ability to copy was in its infancy. Older Porsche\u2019s and Ferraris are priced according to scarcity as well as beauty just like art. I can write thousands of words on the comparison between art and cars. This data is also a reasonable predictor of value. Art can be a store of wealth. It can give a reasonable return on equity. It can be borrowed against to expand a collection.
