This was the very first car I learned to wrench on -- a 1991 anyway. It was also a 4-speed auto with the F22. It was my best friend's grandmother's car in middle school; he inherited it in high school and it was our group's go-to transport for years until he moved away and the Honda, sidelined by a fuel delivery issue, went up on blocks in granny's back yard for a few years. I got a call from my friend one day -- His grandmother was going to scrap the old CB7; did I want it?\r\n\r\nAnd that's how I got a free '91 Accord. I ended up towing it home, learning how to do things on it like change oil, replace a fuel filter, fix a leaky valve cover gasket. I still remember the day I got it running (well) again. One of the proudest moments of my life at that point. Sold it on to another friend for next to nothing because he didn't have any wheels, then we fell out of touch. By way of background - this Accord came to me because the prior owner and I connected via Jason \"Hondapro\" Richmond. It was being offered for sale (to a good home) because the seller's mother, who'd owned it 28 years, had passed away recently and he was about to lose his 2-car garage. He refused to subject this Accord to outdoor parking and thus was selectively finding a home for it. \r\n\r\nI'm an Acura guy (and prefer them with 3 pedals) so this was an oddball, but in the short term I offered him a place to at least park the car since I had garage space for it until he figured out his next steps. That was in July. By September I decided to go ahead and buy it because it was becoming due for some maintenance and I felt uncomfortable even moving it around the garage without it being in my name. \r\n\r\nI bought the car, brought all the maintenance up to current, and have enjoyed it for a few miles. Now I'm ready to part ways. As an automatic with 137k miles it's not a show stopper or highly collectible, but it's a rare survivor and one of the most fastidiously maintained cars I've ever seen. The spreadsheet of records took me several hours to compile. As a bonus, I'm including a CD in the disc changer with the top 16 Billboard hits from 1990. You'll drive away with a great soundtrack. The dash design on it was perfect and still looks fantastic today. Very BMW or even better! We needed a bigger, \"safer\" car in '95 when our son was born and went with an 850 Volvo wagon which was a bit more expensive to own. The hatch back was invaluable and we considered an Accord wagon and I wish that is what we'd gone with looking back on it even though they were ugly, ha! After purchasing the Volvo I put the Accord in the street of our fairly new, bucolic, suburban neighborhood with a for sale sign w/fair, but not low price and somebody called and said they wanted the car. I said, \" when do you want to come by and drive it?\". They didn't even drive it. Just paid me and took it. I do take care of my cars and I guess it showed well just sitting there in the street. I always thought that was bizarre. I had sold a CRX I'd had for 11 years and had people literally bidding UP my asking price but I just sold it to the person that showed me the money first. Really wish I still had that car. Now I own 2 fun Honda products, an S2000 & just got my dream car last week, a '95 NSX. Hondas are amazing cars. I was a field rep for American Honda at the time, and had one of these in this color. They were a leap forward from the 1989s, but they also had an unusual number of first year problems for a Honda. Two of the fun ones were related to the tires. First, they shocked toll collectors. Lots of complaints, something to do with the rubber compound not grounding properly. The other was they were terrible in the snow. Michelin missed on those tires. But I'm sure the teething pains are through on this car, and it looks fabulous. Spent months searching for a Honda Dealer that would sell me a new 92 4dr LX 5spd for $12,500 (parents matched my savings) and finally found one in New Orleans that came back with $12,300 offer for my effort, lol. First new car, and it was perfect for what it was. Fun to drive, comfortable for long trips and great MPG. Fast forward couple years later to the R&T issue of the best enthusiasts BMW, the e12 528i, the search was on. Found a rusty 79 528i for $700, New Orleans again, and the love affair started and the Accord was barely driven afterwards. Not to discount the Accord, it remained the \"date\" car as most college girls didnt appreciate the allure of a old rusty 528i that loved to scream to redline but they did love the Accord. Kept the Accord for 4.5 years, put 115k miles on it and sold it for $8900. I did love those numbers so I tried to buy a 97 Accord for a daily to keep miles off of my 95 M3 but this time around Honda Dealers would not budge on price. \r\n\r\nEach generation of accord after this body style felt cheaper, less fun to drive and more of a generic appliance. As if they were really trying to copy the Camry.
