But not in the sense that the radio doesn\u2019t work anymore. Just that part of the screen fails to respond to touch easily, you have press harder. This happens to the right side most often. Even a replacement will still fail as there is no new version. In 2019 McLaren replaced the IRIS I in this car which it originally came with, to the newer IRIS II System which has better Bluetooth and overall faster. This new one has the common slow right side but everything still works, and I just plug my iPhone and play iTunes and use a phone mount for Nav. A replacement IRIS can be around 11k new or half of that used, but it will still fail eventually. There is an aftermarket version coming, which is already available for the 570S and expect to cost around $1,800, and will offer CarPlay as well as a newer Android system. At #0614 in the 2012 model, this was relatively early in the 1st year production run, and the market seems to discount earlier builds. 20k miles, while testifying to overall reliability (e.g., having gotten the bugs ironed out), is above the magical mileage increments of 5k, 10k, 15k. And perhaps most critically, this example lacks any of the carbon fiber options that really drive up pricing. No CF on the exterior, engine compartment, or (especially) the interior package. Performance, though, remains outstanding, particularly with the CC brakes, sport exhaust and super lightweight wheels. \r\n\r\nI've been tracking this car for a few years - it was sold privately out of Mass 5 years ago, asking $150k, then Porsche of Warwick at 7k miles. McLaren Charlotte had it at 10k miles, and Tactical Fleet had it with 14k. I think this would have been an outstanding purchase at, say, $90k-$95k. Hopefully the seller will be able to strike a deal with the top bidder. The car is well-sorted and drives with zero issues, zero leaks, and everything works as it should. This car also has new accumulators, and a new APMU pump. After speaking to several McLaren dealers and McLaren service shops when I was trying to locate an APMU, they shared that the failure rate of APMU pumps is increasing; perhaps it has something to do with them being ten years old. The APMU pump will likely be a 5k job or more based on the labor and amount of work to get to it, and the one in this car is good for a long time. I found the only new APMU in the world (at the time, haven't checked recently) in the UK, the local McLaren dealers had zero inventory in the entire US, and I was told it would be 4-6 months to get the part in. \r\n\r\nYes, this car lacks a carbon interior and the carbon engine packages, but that is one of the easiest things to address if you want carbon trim. You can get complete interior kits which are actually full carbon (OEM Carbon on the inside are mostly overlays), and complete engine carbon kits from AliExpress (was quoted at $1,800 shipped for the entire carbon interior), eBay, Supercargarageatl.com and other places. Most 12Cs I've seen have fading carbon fiber trim in the engine bay due to heat, and sun exposure, which can be fixed, but looks yellow in most cases. Kevin at McMedics/Supercar Garage ATL has several OEM engine carbon kits or aftermarket options. \r\n\r\nWhat I think this car has that makes it unique compared to other earlier 12Cs is the CCB which is a must in this car as you can achieve insane speeds with ease. But it's not just for stopping; CCBs reduce your unsprung weight as well; combined with the Super Light Wheels, the handling is razor sharp and ultra responsive. That matters more than gimmicky carbon interiors IMHO, but to each their own :).
