This car is a true specimen, and I'm happy show the car here in Austin, and answer whatever questions you may have. For starters, here's a little context.\r\nOnly six original Daytona coupes were ever built and they enjoyed a short but very impressive racing career. Originally built for the 1964-65 race season these Daytona coupes won the FIA world manufacturers championship beating Ferrari and many others. In fact, in 1965, Enzo Ferrari, realizing that he would lose to the Daytona, pulled his factory support from the Ferrari GT program paving the way for the Shelby Daytona coupe to win it all. This example is an exact replica of the original 6, built under the specifications and supervision of Carroll Shelby and Peter Brock. Shelby died in 2012, but I was able to have a conversation with Peter Brock when I bought 114 and it was fascinating. I\u2018m in no way belittling the others as some are way closer to the original six, and many are very capable track cars. The SPC looks, feels and definitely sounds like what most think a 1965 GT racer was about. The roll up windows, AC, high mounted brake light and 18\u201c wheels are obvious giveaways. I\u2018ve owned mine for 15 years and put 40k miles on it. Long trips, alpine passes, race tracks and events. It is comfortable, has a ridiculously big luggage space (where purists would want to see the FiA reg. full sized spare wheel), and swallows distances easily. The clutch is heavy, steering light, throttle is sensitive and brakes are good enough. It is, however, tinitus inducingly loud. Not in a hollow race car sort of way, but more like being escorted by two Harley Davidsons. On short blasts, absolute music to the ears of any real enthusiast. However when a a steady mile eating cruise (80-90 mph) that \u201eblatt blatt\u201c burn into your ears. Ear plugs or noise cancelling headphones solve that problem perfectly. What these cars don\u2019t like, is to be left in the garage too long.
