I believe apart from stripping the car the body would only need scuffing with a 3m pad and a few minor touch ups to re paint the stock colour. The car had a poor repaint in the original colour that was peeling when i bought it. Otherwise i would have never touched it. Currently the body is dead straight and has never had a door ding. I wasn't crazy about the stock colour and after stripping to metal i saw a new B.M.W. in that colour and that was it. The springs were from motorsport and were only listed as special order. I tightened down the hatch in a quest to have a fume free 240z and it now takes a bit of a push to pop the lock. Over the last 25 years since I had it painted, this is the result of repeated openings. I had a small dent repair on the dogleg with the bubble at the same time as all the other work . After all these years that's the only finish flaw. They are only visible from a foot away. This was a bare metal paint job and some small amount of filler is always needed. I think the paint cracked at the hatch lock about 20 plus years ago.
