While I've only had it for a short period of time, it\u2019s been fun driving it around and getting compliments on the color, wheels and ride quality as it is amazing. The car was kind of an impulse buy for me; I had a previous 2006 750i years ago in the same color combo and I loved the car. I was talking cars with a friend and randomly looked up what that car would be going for now in this market and I saw this one sitting at a Rolls Royce dealership and looked incredibly clean and reasonably priced due to a misfire that had been misdiagnosed as a bad High Pressure Fuel Pump (a pricey repair). I occasionally work on cars as a hobby, so I thought I\u2019d buy it, fix it, drive it for a bit to get my nostalgia fix and maybe even make a profit in the process so I jumped on the opportunity. Once home I started working in it and found it had several problems listed below, all of which I addressed:\r\n\r\n- Bad coil pack cylinder 5\r\n- Bad injector cylinder 5\r\n- replaced spark plug on cylinder 5 as well\r\n- I had all 11 other injectors refurbished and flow tested to return to stock levels\r\n- I preventatively rebuilt both High Pressure Fuel Pumps as they are known to fail\r\n- cleaned carbon buildup from all valves\r\n- replaced both PCV valves as they are a known problem area\r\n- replaced both cabin filters\r\n- changed the oil and prepaid for a 3-year BMW oil change service plan\r\n\r\nThe car now runs like a dream with no misfires or engine codes and passed smog on 11/29/21. Since then, I\u2019ve taken it on a road trip and driven it around town and it really is smoother than any other car I\u2019ve driven. The self-leveling suspension is pretty special, and it\u2019s surprising how quickly the V12 gets this 5000lb boat to freeway speeds. Truly a beautiful example of the German flagship at the time. It's been a fun ride but I've got my sights set on my next toy so she is ready for a new home. But factor maybe $3k down the road for that work (won\u2019t happen right away, but they all need them eventually) and whatever the hammer price for this is it will still be insane value. \r\n\r\nI suspect this will be a profitable enterprise for you given you did your own work and surely got the car at a good price given the issues. I was going to fix little things like those over time but baseball season started and so i don't have as much free time as i did to work on it.\r\n\r\nJust now i went and inspected more closely and all of the motors work but there are several minor problems. There are 2 shades per window. One for the main body of it and the other for the triangle shaped rear of the door. All motors work. The 2 main roller shades appear to be missing. They could just have detached from the clips and retracted into the doors but i haven't taken the doors apart to check. The right rear passenger triangle shade works while the one on the other side comes out a bit but the clip is not attached wherever it should be so it only comes out partly then gets stuck. I would imagine fixing this one is simple once you take apart the door. The worst case would be that you'd have to buy 2 new roller shades and whatever labor costs to install them. From all the tests before and after it is clear that the injection shop did a great job on the injectors and nailed the problem. What I would contribute is that the injection shop was given all the injectors and numbered them from 1-12 for testing and reconditioning, whereas they did not necessarily correspond to the engine's cylinder numbering. Or the seller simply made a typo.
