Indeed, the siren's song of a V12, three-pedal Ferrari in a stunning color proved too much for me to resist. Call this sailor shipwrecked!\r\n\r\nThat being said, the (now sorted) engine is a delight with a glorious note and the gated 6-speed is indeed a joy. The color is absolutely magnificent.\r\n\r\nSo why am I selling so soon? Suffice it to say that a LOT has happened over the past 4 months. In terms of the car, It's much improved from where it started but I want to share a few insights:\r\n1. Suspension: this is the area I would address moving forward. Needs to be dialed in-- per Ferrari dealer recommendation is to start with speed sensor (est ~3K incl labor) and then assess whether further adjustments needed e.g rebuilt shocks. Of note, the dealer suggested rebuild over replace given \"astronomical\" price of replacement. I don't even want to know how much \"astronomical\" is for a Ferrari dealer...\r\n2. Radio: to enjoy this car you must love the sound of the v12 because there is enough static in the sound system to make the radio obsolete. Also it cuts out frequently. \r\n Replacement is not trivial-- trust me, I've looked into it. \r\n3. Wind noise: passenger window doesn't seal completely as indicated in the description. Not a big deal for me but bidder's should be aware.\r\n4. Lights on the dash: every now and then the suspension light comes on then shuts off. Same with the airbag light. Source of the suspension light has been identified (speed sensor). I haven't been as interested in chasing down the source of the airbag light.\r\n5. A/C: blows \"kind of\" cool. I've been told this is as good as it gets.\r\n6. Cosmetics: scratch on driver side mirror that's been touched up, curb rash on rear driver wheel, wear on driver seat bolster, scratch on center console.\r\n\r\nEnzo Ferrari once said, \"I sell engines, the rest of the car I throw in for free...\" IMHO this is what it means to drive this car. It sat on his desk as long as I can remember. He bought a '95 Mazda 626 a few years later and managed to source a 456 replica wheel set for it. I believe the brand was Alessio - funny the things that stick in one's head all these years later. You could open the doors on the model and turn the steering wheel which would actually turn the wheels. That began my lifelong affection for the 456, which to this day is still my favorite Ferrari. Not today, but one day... If I'm lucky it will even be in this color. However, the issue with the radio unit that I mentioned in one of my initial posts is interference/static and frequent loss of power. As such, I suspect this to be a wiring problem. Beyond that, even when the sound system is functioning I find the quality of the sound to be underwhelming. Were I to keep the car, I would consider investing in revamping/overhauling the entire system. A word of caution: the Sony manufactured units in these 456s had the main unit in the trunk with a shallow faceplate embedded in the center console. As a result, changing out the stereo is not as simple as dropping in a standard DIN unit. Trying to spare you as well as any other potential bidders the headache I've gone through to figure all this out.\r\n\r\nI'd also like to expand on the suspension. When I discussed this with Bill Rhode at Ferrari Los Angeles, he indicated that the present issue causing the intermittent suspension light and sub-optimal performance was attributable to a faulty speed sensor.
