First up, the DU 65xxx VIN would make this a late-production '67 and as such it would almost definitely have come with an Amal Concentric carburetor rather than the (chromed or just polished?) Monobloc shown here... No idea if this is \"provable\" or not - or if anyone even cares haha - but my understanding is the introduction of Concentric carbs occurred in the middle of the 1967 production year around DU 59xxx. On the upside, this bike appears to have the correct one-year-only 1967 rear fender with the rolled lip all the way around - a BIG plus for originality - and the black trim around the bottom of the seat is also accurate for 1967.\r\n\r\nNow with nothing better to do this morning I'll join the fray re the mist green over white color/paint scheme. The previous comments describing this color as \"unusual\" or \"rarely seen\" have me scratching my head, since (to my knowledge anyway) this was the only color combo Triumph offered for the single carb 650 in 1967 - to paraphrase Henry Ford, if you bought any model TR6 (R or C) in 1967 you could have any color you wanted as long as it was Mist Green over Alaskan White! I have never seen any literature or reference anywhere indicating otherwise. More than happy to be proven wrong about this - thus the \"to my knowledge\" caveat!\r\n\r\nHard to say definitively how close the green on this bike is to the original Mist Green since the photos are a bit washed out in the late afternoon sun, but I would be inclined to agree with other comments that this is most likely an older repaint, and not all that close to the original Mist Green. (I have a '67 slimline tank with factory paint on a shelf somewhere around here for reference, and a semi-restored '67 TR6C with near-perfect original repaint in the garage). \r\n\r\nOn balance though the paint \"scheme\" on this bike looks pretty good to me, even if the green is not quite right - I see it as a capable painter's attempt to re-create the original East Coast paint scheme - not entirely out of place since the bike is in NY! I also have to take issue with the previous comment that the fenders should be reversed ie green with white center stipe - while anything is certainly possible and nothing is written in stone when if comes to what happened at Meriden, in general Triumph stuck with the pattern where the \"main\" tank color was used for the center stripe on the mudguards, and the \"secondary\" tank color became the \"main\" color for the guards. Thus - for a '67 TR6R with painted fenders - white with green center stripe would most likely be \"correct\". \r\n\r\nAs for the tank itself, again its hard to say for certain without more close-ups, but I am not sure the tank on this bike is in fact a \"slimline\", as per another comment. If you look at photos 2 & 3 the tank looks too wide at the rear to me, and - in my opinion at least - is in fact not a slimline. What do you think?? There were two larger tanks offered in '67, but according to the parts book both had the parcel grid. One possible explanation would be the parcel grid screw holes were filled when the tank was painted - something that has been done more than once! I've only ever seen Mist Green over Alaskan White on slimline tanks, which have a different layout (in terms of where the green ends and the white starts) compared to the larger tanks, but the layout on this tank looks similar to other earlier model 4-gallon tank repaints I've seen, so it may well be close to original...\r\n\r\nCoincidentally, I tried to list my '67 TR6C here on BaT about 10 days ago but could not get the powers that be to agree to anything close to the reserve I wanted - @and-220 it looks like you had better luck - good on you! It's not clear from the description how much you've ridden it and how much work you've done on it, so any details you'd care to elaborate on would be appreciated... My specific questions are 1) did it come to you as we see it here? or 2) did you install the gauges? 3) are the wheel rims original with the \"DUNLOP\" stampings? and lastly 4) any history of engine/gearbox/primary work? You have a NICE bike here, very close to original - I would like to see it get the genuine Smiths magnetic instruments, chrome tank trim strip and clips to hold the gaiters in place (among other nitpickery!) that a bike this nice deserves... Gaylin speculates that this has to do with the mismatch of fenders being used - unfinished tip on the front, rolled in the rear for all US TR6R models (as you mentioned) and some UK Trophies. And it sounds just as nice as it looks. The 67 TR6 has always been one of my favorite color combos. I tend to like the single carb 650's better than the Bonneville's. There's less to worry about and they ride really nice. \r\n\r\nA lot of people are saying the mist green doesn't look spot on (to the stock color). It's one of those colors that's tricky to get right and seems to look different in every photo I see on line. To me the green looks ok but the white seems to have more yellow in it than Triumphs original alaskan white. That could be because of the golden hour photo shoot, it's hard to say. Either way, it looks like someone did a great job painting it. A quick note to the seller, I wouldn't take offense to the Triumph guys debating what's original or whether the paint colors are a perfect match to stock.... nobody is saying it's not up to their standards (from what I've read.) I'm sure we'd all be happy to have that bike in our garage. Sometimes people can get carried away with the bolt counting and showing off about how much they know (I'm sure I'm guilty of it myself) but it's not coming from a bad place. IMHO this bike was way too nice for clone instruments, which invariably cast a shadow of doubt over the whole bike. It is not that hard or expensive to source a decent set of working Smiths magnetic gauges, and if the bike was mine that's what I would have done.\r\n\r\nI think 3 factors played a role in the $4100 outcome here in what should or at least could have been a $5-6K result (above and beyond the time of year): 1) the presentation (by that I mean the photographs, which were so-so at best, and in any online selling environment photos are way more than half the battle); 2) the clone instruments; and 3) nature of seller's engagement. \r\n\r\nMy two cents...
