This truck was purchased new at Cooper-Helms Chevrolet in Harrisburg, PA, in early 1989 by Francis Nuss III, an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He used the truck occasionally until 2002, only putting on about 5,300 miles in the 13 years he used the truck. From 2002 -2020 the truck was parked in his Pennsylvania garage untouched for unknown reasons. Francis passed away in June 2018. In early 2020, a close friend of Francis from the same town purchased the truck from his daughter. He got the truck running, cleaned up, and resold it to me. He replaced the fuel tank and pump assembly, changed the oil and filter, replaced the battery, and said it started right up. I purchased the truck in August 2020. Under my ownership, I have driven the truck approximately 150 miles. The tires are original and do have flat spots. I do not see any cracks in the tires. It is nice that they are original for originality purposes but should be replaced because of the age if you plan on driving the truck.\nThe truck starts right up and runs and drives excellent. This truck is peppy! Also somewhat rare to have the L05 5.7 L 350 CI paired with the MM5 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The mileage is highly documented. Look at the pictures of state inspection reports, the unopened registrations, and all the original purchase documents. Also, note that the state inspection sticker is still on the windshield from August 2001. The mileage at that last inspection was 5,234. The truck is a beautiful one that I will miss for sure\u2014only selling it to make room for a couple of new toys I bought. I welcome all inspections. I will be available throughout the week. \n\nSome additional notes on the truck:\n\t1.\tThe truck is a Canadian-built truck from the Oshawa, Ontario, plant, which can be shown in the VIN by decoding the 1st and 11th digits.\n\t2.\tThe radio has a scratchy sound. It comes out somewhat clear if the volume is all the way up. The scratchy sound can be heard in the video\n\t3.\tEverything works except that the air conditioning does not blow cold.\n\t4.\tThe interior is in new condition except for the sagging headliner shown in the video.\n\t5.\tThe spare tire is missing; that is how I got the truck.\n\t6.\tThe paint is in excellent condition overall. Some stains under the clear coat can be seen up close on the hood and roof, which can be seen by zooming in on the photos. As pictured, some dirt is also caught behind the \"Silverado\" badges. \n\t7.\tThe door VIN label was damaged when the truck was cleaned. I got an exact replacement from ECS Automotive Concepts but have decided to let the new owner install it. The new one is pictured in picture # 101\n\t8.\tThis is a highly documented truck. Complete with original purchase documents, multiple state inspection reports, and registrations documenting mileage. Just the right size for a full size and big enough for any job handled by a pickup. I owned a 93 I bought new, I found while in the market for a 454SS, that was a sweet sport truck at that time. But on a test drive with a salesman that owned one who was a friend of mine, I burned a quarter tank just sprinting around and never getting over 60 mph. When I mentioned that concern he told me of a C1500 Silverado Sport Truck Chrome, that had been specially ordered and refused. So they were stuck with a nice short bed reg cab 350 TBI, 5 speed, that had a Sport Package only available on top trim level they called Silverado, that came with the same high back captains bucket seats, console, electronic climate controls, am/fm/cassette w equalizer, all in a nice grey velour cloth. With every option available but automatic. The factory towing package came with the hitch, wiring, G80 auto locking differential, with 3:73 gears, the customer that ordered it had the dealer install! Man I loved that truck! In the daze of 55 mph highways, 22 mpg was easily achieved with cruise control on in 5th gear, just lopping along at 1,200 rpm\u2019s. Towing was also a breeze. Plus the truck was fairly quick, like 5.0 Mustang Z28 quick, till about 70 mph. There was even a 1/4 mile drag race the State of R.I. Has set up as a test, to see if that would work, so they had it set up at the old Quonset Navy Base, just outside of the Vintage Aircraft Museum. Where I had a time slip of 15.1 @89 mph, that wasn\u2019t that bad for a stock 210 hp truck, with only a K&N CAI. Thanks! Operating from the cell phone and did not see that number on the page. \r\n\r\nSo with the high mpg rear end ratio, how far does that drop the actual towing capacity? I did not find the towing capacity on any of the paperwork I saw. \r\n\r\n I had a 1990 V6 5speed with 3.08 ratio, and it would not tow 3000 pounds without dropping down into fourth gear. And anything more than a modest expressway overpass incline would require third gear. \r\n\r\n I know the 5.7 V8 is considerably more powerful, but the 3.08 ratio has to have a negative effect on towing capability. It did not tow well and 90% of the towing had to be done in 3rd gear, which was a 1 : 1 ratio. This truck isn't intended for heavy hauling. One look at the tires tells you it wasn't ordered as a work truck. It'll happily tow a smallish boat or some other light trailer load. They will go the distance and with the deep gears will scoot across an intersection very quickly. It literally has stump pulling torque, i've actually pulled a stump out with it. But the biggest thing we've towed is a probably 3500 lbs and it did fine with that, though shifted down on hills and the best speed was about 65 mph on flats and 55 on hills. The 5 speed is compelling because the AT leaks if it sits for a long time, which it does, even after replacing the seals. Nice truck, tons of life left in this one. We were loaded with 3 people, 1000 pounds in the bed and towing a 3500lb SUV on a dollie. The truck shrugged off the weight and would easily tow at 75 mph in 5th. 4th was used for moderate hills, only had to use 3rd going through the Smokies on steep grades. MPG was 11-12, down from the usual 16-20.\nIMHO the 88-98 GMT400 trucks were the best ever built. Frames are stronger than the newer ones and don't rust out. Has real steel bumpers that can take a hit and leave whatever hit you totaled. Simple to work on and parts are cheap.
