In my experience, only the 87' years have the three piece spoiler while the 86, 88, and 89's have the one piece. Its odd and nonsensical. Over the years this has meant less and less as its usually the first part destroyed on the cars, but my firsthand experience owning all these model years supports this odd part change. Also, the 86, and 87 vehicles have ECU's unique to their model years with the 86 also having a unique TB setup that is not transferable for any other year (why as you correctly pointed out the power is down for this year). Thus, one can use an ECU from an 88 and 89' vehicle on an 87', but not on an 86'. Back in the day, this presented issues for people modding their Quests as the 86' ECU and TB simply couldnt handle anything beyond a 16g (and barely that with minimal boost) as the fuel supply isnt there to support high-boost applications. Back then I made the jump to multiport simply because using the 86' TB setup was taking me nowhere beyond 200hp reliably...Also, for those looking at SHP cars, its important to note that the correct rear wheel tire size is a 245/45R16 on the 9\" rear rim, not a 245/50R16 that I have seen on a few SHP cars on here. The visual difference is substantive when seen side-by-side....\r\n\r\nThe radio is an interesting debate as well with the one in this vehicle usually only found in the Mitsubishi vehicles (similar to the \"Turbo\" script in the rear windows, black trim around body, and tail lights without the black lines running through them) so perhaps this early Dodge variant escaped that. The little things that changed from rebranding to rebranding are subtle and really bizarre. \r\n\r\nAlso, rear black bumper covers carried through the 87' model years changing for 88'+. As you mentioned, these are the first item to be destroyed, so it's great to see one intact, especially on such a nice SQ. \n\nAnd, as you noted, any serious HP jump is going to require a true multipart set-up since the factory primary/secondary isn't reliable above 200HP on '86-'87, though '88/'89 can work decently if high quality injectors are used. \n\nGood point on the factory 45 aspect ratio of the rear tires on SHP/PHP systems. Some SQers like the taller 50 profile as it fills the wheel well better and gives the car a slight rake at the expense of factory correct sizing. \n\nAnd, you are spot-on regarding the radio as this silver sided variant was typically Mitsu only, but captive imports were only badge engineered, so coming off the line it could be anything. And, I believe, for MOPAR trivia, the Conquest is the only identical car sold as Chrysler, Plymouth and Dodge. \n\nInteresting note on the black rear bumper as I have an '87 factory paint with it body colored. Again, weird things happened.\n\nThis example strikes me as honest and pure with nothing a collector would need to change.
