In short time there will be no paint left on that area of the fender. \r\nThere is no interior coverings on the rear fender wells and holes are evident from perhaps a once installed roll bar. Those holes will let debris in from inside the wheel well.\r\nAlso, there are holes in the fire wall where heater attachments should be and other items are missing. These holes will let heat and fumes into the passenger compartment from the engine bay. Not good.\r\nThe front apron has an incorrect and extreme contour above the grill and no Triumph letters. I wonder how much filler is on this panel as well as the rest of the car. \r\nThe trunk lid is from a TR2 or 3. Not a 3A or 3B.\r\nIn photo 51, the upper A-arm seems to be misaligned or eschew. \r\nThe paint or color is not as important as what might be hiding under it. \r\nThis car did not come from the factory with an over-drive. I wonder what year the gearbox is from. It might not have a syncronized first gear, which it should. If it has any shifting problems, it will only get worse. I think this is potentially one of those cars and the current bid level is ludicrous! \n\nIn my estimation this car shows signs of very serious collision damage - the panels fit terribly, it's got the wrong trunk lid (and it fits poorly), the front end shows evidence of likely damage - not just the obvious missing T R I U M P H lettering but look in detail at the poor fit of the grill to it's opening. What's going on with the firewall/inner fender structure on the right hand side? Underneath the chassis plate, (which appears to have been removed and re-installed with pop rivets (POP RIVETS??) but an even more major concern is the amateurish welding bead, which again may signify significant damage improperly repaired. The hood fit is terrible - look at the junction with the front apron, the wiring under hood is a classic \"spaghetti wiring mess\" just waiting to fail - and it will, most likely at night, in the dark and rain where you have no cell phone reception! Even the plumbing for the vacuum line from the intake manifold to the carburetors is a conglomeration of hardware store miscellany, and even the vinyl on the dash board is a bad fit, but that's okay if you consider the entire interior really needs to be discarded and done over before the car will be worth close to the current bid level. Now, and this is just a possibility - there are some photos of the largely unrestored rolling frame/chassis. Perhaps all the panel alignment issues are due to a poor/quick re installation of the body and it simply needs some major adjustment and shimming but that means unbolting it and starting over.\n\nIn summary, this car is a hot mess that happens to be very photogenic and that's what people are seeing, not the flaws. It's a project and it is restorable but if it were given to one for FREE, you will still be underwater financially unless you can do virtually everything yourself, but how many guys like that are left?\n\nI love TR3's (I've owned a number of them) but a TSF TR3 is nothing special beyond it's curiosity as a way to get rid of unsold parts. These were post production, and made from anything that was on the shelf to satisfy the NA market that was not ready to embrace the new TR4. I have heard that restoring a correct B is easier because anything goes! There is more than one example without lettering on the nose from the 'factory'. I have restored one for a client. I had the nose to bare steel, and there was no evidence of holes-ever. Other items such as earlier style OD pull switch would not fly on a TR3a, but fine on a TR3b. Some even had low port heads. I doubt if the non raised hinge trunk lid mismatch would have made it from assembly in that combination, but many of the other details would be acceptable as correct. In some cases, the buyers were so naive that they had no idea what they were looking at, Bring-A-Trailer offers the best internet buying experience because knowledgeable people and informed prior owners can share their experiences and observations. Less than forthright sellers have quickly learned that! Do you remember the guy offering a Factory Five kit car one time who wrongly claimed it had actually been built by Shelby American? He was quickly shot down. That was a few years ago. On the other internet markets he could have continued to make that claim in the hope that someone innocent enough would have found it credible.
