My driving habits, family priorities, and storage arrangements have changed recently and it\u2019s time to give another enthusiast the chance to enjoy this incredible car. Also, due to the current situation, I am offering to continue to store the car for the new owner free of charge though the summer. I can also assist with arranging truck transportation or pick up in person. \r\n\r\nNow back to the car\u2026this M2 1015 Autozam AZ-1 was imported from Japan through NHTSA\u2019s 25-year exception and was purchased by me in November of 2017. The AZ-1 is an awesome little car that by far attract the most attention of any of my cars. I specifically bough an M2 version as I prefer its mini-RS2000 looks with the integrated front driving lights and rear wing. The paint was a little tired on this one so I did have repainted in a metallic flake silver. I also had the fiberglass repaired in a couple areas so the exterior is almost like new, but for some shrinking in the gullwing door seals. The car came from the Kyoto Prefecture which is along the coast so does have some oxidation on a few of the metal parts, but the majority of the car is aluminum and fiberglass so there are no issues with rust. Mechanically the AZ-1 runs great with all maintenance up to date. The interior is clean with some wear to the seats and a small tear I the shifter and handbrake boot. The car is a riot to drive and feels like a race car with it\u2019s high revving engine and low to ground profile. It says that all the M2 panels were added and If i am seeing things right, the original color was blue (look at the underside of the door picture showing pretty bad paint prep or peeling silver, revealing the blue along the edge). Blue was one of the two standard issue colors of all AZ-1s along with red. If this is not an M2, but a recreation then it is not too rare in the AZ-1 world. If it had a LSD, then it would be a real treat to start out as a Mazdaspeed version. I see lots of AZ-1s that started out as plain models and had added trunks with wings, M2 style hoods, etc. But then again with only over 4,000 manufactured and only a small percentage of those in the US and on top of that, really few M2 look alikes, then it is rare in that respect. Just not a genuine M2 1015. Besides, these AZ-1\u2019s have very compact suspensions and cannot \u201cbottom out\u201d without blowing out the suspension and leaving significant scrapes along the bottom of the car including the aforementioned subassembly which there is no evidence of here.
