And factory A/C, yay!\n\n1967 was the first year of the non \"poly\" 318, which we all know turned out to be a reliable and great little engine.\n\nThese were all originally equipped with a two-barrel carburetor and generated 230 horsepower at 4400 rpm and 340 foot-pounds of torque @2400 rpm running a 9.2 to 1 compression ratio.\n\nMy family had a Butterscotch over black 71 Dart Swinger with this same engine and A/C and she would flat scoot, even with the 2bbl - surprising many a Mustang and Camaro when they saw her taillights getting smaller and smaller. If you got em just right she could beat a few unsuspecting muscle cars as well (if you happen to be reading this, remember that Swinger Mr. Green 68 GTO? Twice.)\n\nOur neighborhood had a long flat straightaway in it, about 1/3 mile long after a nice little hill to gather up steam. One evening I wanted to see her bury that long, wide speedometer. After the last turn off there was another downhill slope before the road flattened out unto a dead-end, followed by a strip of forest.\n\nShe buried the speedometer indeed, only one small problem. When I let up to turn left before the last turnoff the throttle was stuck to the floor. Bouncing off 120. I was 14 at the time, scared the bejezis out of me! Those Darts had a pull handle hand brake sticking out just under the dash on the left, I stomped both feet on the brakes and pulled that handle as hard as I could, ultimately turning off the engine, the car vibrating like mad and smoke pouring out of the wheelwells. Yes, I stopped in time but my little heart was beating a mile a minute and my hands could have served 007 the perfect cocktail \ud83c\udf78. Could've used one myself, I sat there for what must have been 5 minutes calming down.\n\nThere is a statute of limitations on this kind of stuff, right?\n\nMany years later I was telling my (much) older brother about this adventure and it turned out that that little car had done the exact same thing to him, on the exact same stretch of road! The apples don't fall far from the tree for sure. Given that everybody and his brother parrots the \"let's make it 'unique' by putting Torq Thrusts on it\" move, it would totally stand out with the stock setup. But are there four wheels and four redline tires? There are photos of stock wheels with whitewalls as well. Are there TWO sets altogether? \r\n\r\nMaybe with stock wheels those rear booster shocks could be removed to return the car to stock height. Then again, perhaps the leaf springs need replacing. \r\n\r\nSo many little things could still be fixed as well, like the headlight switch and the radio. But with A/C, this could make a great frequent driver while addressing the small needs over time. I could even see daily driving this once the radio is fixed and upgraded with modern guts. \r\n\r\nOne funny aside: pictures #157 and #157 at first glance look like they're from a police murder investigation! There was one being worked on at Ancient Auto, and it was a jaw-dropper.\r\nThe company whom I bought the shocks from used modern suspension and somehow modifies them to fit specifically to the car which they will be installed. They must be special ordered, and it takes several weeks to complete the order until shipped. Before ordering, I had a long phone conversation with the company rep about how I wanted my car to ride, look, etc, and these were his recommendation for front and rear. The shop that installed the four shocks told me that they fit perfectly. Adjustable? You've got me there. If you contact me, and I'll call the shop Monday to find out. The 340 was rated at 275 hp and 340 torque @3200 with a four barrell. I own a 66 hemi belvedere, 67 GTX, 67 R/T and a 67 Belvedere II with the 318. All i did was put a stock 340 cam in it, headers, intake, 4bbl, electronic ignition and she woke right up. You can pull alot more than just dandelions with them in stock configuration and the parts were dirt cheap to upgrade if you wanted. I'd like to expand a bit on the paint and body. Aside from a few very small road chips in the paint, it is near flawless no matter where you look. The color is rich and the metallic sparkles. Whoever did the job was either an expert with masking, and a perfectionist, or the bright work was removed before painting. I cannot find one trace of overspray on the outside body, anywhere. Someone knew what they were doing, for sure. There are no dents, scrapes or rust to be found anywhere on the body, trim or bumpers. Not even a parking lot ding. Door, hood, and trunk gaps look even and level.\r\nThe \"corrosion\" as noted in the BaT write-up is merely very fine oxidation on the undercarriage, It's surface and mild to the point of \"discoloration\" -vs- \"rust\". And amazing for being 54 years old. The sheet metal, even in the places where corrosion is often found on vintage cars, is solid, and also wears very nice paint under the doors, rocker panels, and around wheel wells.\r\nI've done everything to make this a dry car. Everything that required repair or replacement has been addressed aside from the dome light, radio, windshield washer, and section of stitched seat. I'm a bit OCD about the condition of my toys, and that kind of sums it up.\r\nAgain, if you want specific photos, ask and you will receive.
