I would like to clarify a few points:\r\nLotus offered the 3-eleven in two versions -- a \"road\" version which is street legal in most countries (but not in the USA), and a \"race\" version. Yes, the race version came with a sequential transmission. This car is a road version, which came with a traditional 6-speed manual. I believe it is from Toyota, or their supplier (Aisen?). There is an adapter plate to fit the transaxle to the engine. There is nothing wrong with the transmission on this car. It was sent to Monkeywrench Racing, a Lotus specialist, when the clutch was changed. They opened it up and found nothing wrong. They replaced a few of the synchronizers that were slightly worn since they were already in there. They also upgraded the shifting forks. I have added a picture of the invoice for this work. The shift linkage is only balky when upshifting from 4th to 5th near the 7000 rpm redline. Once in a while it happens when upshifitng 3rd to 4th. Otherwise it shifts beautifully. Downshifting is never a problem. Rather than trying to diagnose this intermittent shift linkage problem that happens only at high speeds, I upshift at 6000 rpm, and this avoids the problem. The car drives perfectly otherwise. It has been used exclusively as a track car since it is not street legal in the USA, but it has never been abused. There have been no off-track incidents, never any body damage. I have used it only at Virginia International Raceway where it runs 2:07 lap times on the full course (I am only an average driver). The body work is not hinged to open up. The car listed for $136,350 with the options I ordered: carbon driver and passenger seat, fire extinguisher, Michelin Cup 2 tires, green/yellow paint scheme. I saw the 410HP stat listed, but I didn't see any mention of the weight?- it's 1900lbs. (Mathematics experts, can do the computation.) Very few of these came to the USA.\r\n\r\nWith an MSA approved cage, shown below by the seller, you can typically run in the \"Sports Car\" class for the SCCA- all you need is a transponder. I have not had any \"balky\" shifting issues at all, so I believe it may be a bug, not a feature. \r\n\r\nThis car is bloody quick and the experience is visceral. You have to do the driving, the systems won't do it for you.
