The Arizona sun had taken a toll on the paint and the clearcoat was peeling off. Having painted a couple cars before, I decided to tackle the re-spray myself. I sanded the car down to bare metal and first applied epoxy primer. Then I put down a couple coats of 2K primer followed by 5 coats of Eastwood Meteor grey metallic. (original color was grey metallic). Finally I shot 3 coats of high quality clear.\r\n Metallic gray is really difficult to shoot and was probably above my skill level. There is some zebra striping in a couple places. Also I should have put down a couple more coats of clear. The clear got a little thin in a couple places during the final cut and buff. This is a pretty rare car as it has the 'SE' features: front air dam, rear spoiler, 15\" alloy wheels, leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. This one also has cruise control to boot. As there was no SE coupe until 1991 this grouping of options was only available for one year (these options were not available on the coupe in 1989 and the S13 received a facelift in 1991. So, if you wanted a pig nose with the SE features 1990 is your target year.\r\n\r\nThis one is a bit more rare too b/c of the manual windup windows and lack of sunroof. \r\n\r\nI am still regretting the sale of my cherry red pearl 1990 XE coupe with these options. Less than a year after selling it, I saw it on Craigslist with a blown engine and I lost track of it after that. It took me another two years to find another unmolested coupe and I ended up with a close cousin to this car (mine is a base model XE coupe w/o the front air dam and rear spoiler etc.). Mine is still wearing its original faded charcoal gray paint thanks to the New Mexico sunshine but thankfully it is rust free. \r\n\r\nSorry to ask this question here but, I have been searching for a replacement A/C compressor and my mechanic has warned me against the four seasons brand and there are not any other options. I have a new in the box A/C dealer install kit from Nissan but, it is for a 91-94 and it would be a Frankenstein install for these KA24 single cam models.
