For a time in the late 50's and early 60's, Studebaker was the sole authorized US distributor for Mercedes Benz. In those days, if you wanted to purchase an MB, you had to do it thru a Studebaker dealership. This was Eisenhower's attempt to keep Studebaker afloat since he didn't want a major US car manufacturer to go under during his watch. It may be the most pleasant driving Studebaker I\u2019ve owned (out of 20+). These cars are easy to maneuver, have plenty of visibility with the huge windows, and are really simple to work on. They aren\u2019t hot rods, but they don\u2019t have to be. Though they are great for everyday driving. \n\nAs far as this car goes, I\u2019d have to detail the engine the proper colors, put on quiet mufflers, and ditch those sticky vinyl seat covers.. But that\u2019s all easy stuff to take care of. \n\nMost Larks were used up and worn out. From 1963 through 1966, a dual circuit master cylinder was used for drum braked sedans.
