Front bumpers would need to be changed to ventilate the condensers as PWSchuh suggests (+ all of the rest of the hardware and controls). If you take a look at Jay Leno's youtube video featuring his lovely red DS21 you'll see that he retrofitted the kit to his.\n\nThat said, I recently took a very enjoyable (and serenely comfortable) roadtrip across France with my wife (700+ KMs) during a particularly hot few days in May (82-86F) and we were very pleasantly surprised by the effectiveness of the fan assisted fresh air vents in terms of keeping us cool. Soon after she was delivered to its lucky first owner in Paris. It is understood that the first owner kept the car for over 20 years, at which point it changed hands to its second long term owner in the early 90s who kept the car until 2021. The third owner, who I purchased the car from, immediately commissioned the complete mechanical and cosmetic restoration after taking ownership.\r\n\r\nHe chose the DS Sensation located in Montbron (South West France) www.dssensation.fr , an experienced and very well regarding DS and SM specialist for the restoration work which was carried out over an almost 2 year period and completed in 2023. You can see the car featured on their website and it was also used for their really nice company promotional video which you can also find on their site (scroll to around 1m 40s).\r\n\r\nI have attached the invoices detailing the work done (amounting to well over \u20ac40,000), however, for those not fluent in French I thought it would be useful to outline the main work carried out. \r\n\r\nI\u2019ll begin with the inside out: \r\n\r\nThe interior -\r\n\r\nThe interior was replaced using the best quality leather by Enzo Forgione, a DS and SM specialist in Bolzano. They are well known in the DS/SM scene for producing exceptional DS and SM leather interiors. Citroen themselves use them for their heritage collection in Citro\u00ebn/DS Automobiles showrooms in Paris \u2013 (https://www.nuancierds.fr/DT%20refab%20cuir.htm). Leather is matched in texture and colour to what Citroen produced in the late sixties and early seventies. Stitching measurements, thread colour, and internal materials remain true to the original specification. The one-piece removable headrests are period-correct.\r\n\r\nThe carpet, roof lining and parcel shelf trim were replaced as well as the sun visors. Otherwise the majority of the original and very good Pallas trim remains intact. The original Philips radio has been tested and works, however, as mention above, the speakers were not refitted to avoid damaging the newly reupholstered parcel shelf. I have retained the original front speaker with fader control which can be seen on the far right of the lower dash.\r\n\r\nPaintwork & Exterior \u2013 \r\n\r\nAll panels removed and glass out. External panels and inner front wings repainted in AC 640 \u2013 Bleu Delta. Internal doors, boot, bonnet and chassis paintwork fully stripped and repainted in the original station black finish. Factory bonnet insulation replaced with a new item. Front and rear hydraulic cover panels removed and replaced. Front number plate housing and air intake repainted. All exposed chassis parts, channels, crevices inner arches, door inners were then treated with a coating of Dinitrol clear anti-corrosion wax. \r\n\r\nDisassembled light pods and repainted in the original finish. Replaced discoloured headlight surround trim. Replaced headlight levelling and swivelling linkage parts and springs.\r\n\r\nFront and rear stainless steel bumper sets removed, professionally polished and re-assembled with new fittings; refitted with new mountings. The upper and lower stainless steel pallas door and sill trims were replaced along with the rubber trim . All window brushes and door rubbers replaced. The central \u2018baguette\u2019 trim replaced.\r\n\r\nEngine compartment fully repainted and detailed \u2013 air filter, headlamp bar and spare wheel powder coated. Replaced spare wheel housing and repainted jack set.\r\nWheels shot blast and powder coated in Gris Rose \u2013 RAL 4077. Pallas wheel trim professionally polished.\r\n\r\nFitted door mirrors by CIPA to both doors. Repaired door locks.\r\nBoot hinges removed, resealed and refitted with stronger tension springs.\u2028\r\n\r\nMechanical & Electrical \u2013\r\n\r\nOriginal engine and gearbox fully dissembled and rebuilt to factory specifications. \r\n\r\nClutch replaced. Fuel pump and filter replaced. Injectors replaced. Fuel piping from the fuel tank to the engine bay replaced. All electrical connectors were either refurbished or replaced where necessary. \u2028\r\nNew rocker cover and spark plug tube seals fitted. New plugs \u2013 NGK BP6HS.\r\n\r\nUprated 123 electrical distributor fitted. New alternator fitted. \u2028\r\n\r\nRadiator re-cored, pressure-tested, powder coated and re-fitted.\r\nAll drive belts replaced (fan, alternator, hydraulic pump, centrifugal regulator) and correct tensions set. \u2028\r\n\r\nEngine oil and filter changed. Gearbox oil drained and changed. I have also just carried out a fresh oil change as part of the first \u2018running-in\u2019 service.\u2028\r\n\r\nAll axle joints and steering joints cleaned, greased, and some rubber bearing seals that were split were replaced. \u2028\r\n\r\nNew engine mounts fitted.\r\n\r\nSuspension & brakes \u2028-\r\n\r\nReplaced all suspension spheres. Replaced rear suspension cylinder gaiters. \u2028\r\n\r\nRemoved and refitted rear brake drums, cleaned brake shoes and drums and powder coated in the correct green colour. Front discs and pads also replaced.\u2028\r\nBled and flushed LHM system. Replaced LHM type fluid with genuine LHM fluid from Germany (still made by Pentosin). Filter cleaned.\r\n\r\nThere were many other smaller miscellaneous items which were replaced or restored during the process which I have not listed but please be assured that the restoration was an extremely thorough and professional job, leaving the car in what I would describe as factory fresh (possibly better!) condition.\u2028\r\n\r\nPlease excuse the very long post, however, I appreciate that many interested parties will be bidding from a far therefore will want as much detail as possible to help reassure them of the very high quality of this DS.\r\n\r\nFinally, for those who may get the opportunity to come and view the car before the auction ends, I would be more than happy to help with travel arrangements. I am around 1 hour from Toulouse airport and around 20 minutes from Carcassonne. I will certainly pick you up from the airport (in the DS if you prefer!) and bring you to view the car at my home in Limoux. Further enhanced by its matching numbers status and very low ownership over the past 52 years.\r\n\r\nExamples such as this rarely come up for sale today, bid with confidence and don\u2019t miss out on what is a simply stunning example.\r\n\r\n***My original post below for those who may have missed it:\r\n\r\nThe car rolled off the production line in Paris (Citroen\u2019s Javel Factory) on the 8th November 1972 (I have a copy of the original handwritten production sheet which will come with the car along with the Citroen \u2018certificat de naissance\u2019 / certificate showing the car to be fully matching numbers \u2013 engine, gearbox, chassis). Soon after she was delivered to its lucky first owner in Paris. It is understood that the first owner kept the car for over 20 years, at which point it changed hands to its second long term owner in the early 90s who kept the car until 2021. The third owner, who I purchased the car from, immediately commissioned the complete mechanical and cosmetic restoration after taking ownership.\r\n\r\nHe chose DS Sensation located in Montbron (South West France), an experienced and very well regarded DS and SM specialist for the restoration work which was carried out over an almost 2 year period and completed in 2023. You can see the car featured on their website and it was also used for their really nice company promotional video which you can also find on their site (scroll to around 1m 40s).\r\n\r\nI have attached the invoices detailing the work done (amounting to well over \u20ac40,000 for the restoration alone), however, for those not fluent in French I thought it would be useful to outline the main work carried out.\r\n\r\nI\u2019ll begin with the inside out:\r\n\r\nThe interior \u2013\r\n\r\nThe interior was replaced using the best quality leather by Enzo Forgione, a DS and SM specialist in Bolzano. They are well known in the DS/SM scene for producing exceptional DS and SM leather interiors. Citroen themselves use them for their heritage collection in Citro\u00ebn/DS Automobiles showrooms in Paris \u2013 Leather is matched in texture and colour to what Citroen produced in the late sixties and early seventies. Stitching measurements, thread colour, and internal materials remain true to the original specification. The one-piece removable headrests are period-correct and received in the same leather.\r\n\r\nThe carpet, roof lining and parcel shelf trim were replaced as well as the sun visors. Otherwise the majority of the original and very good Pallas trim remains intact. The original Philips radio has been tested and works, however, as mentioned, the speakers were not refitted to avoid damaging the newly reupholstered parcel shelf. I have retained the original front speaker with fader control which can be seen on the far right of the lower dash.\r\n\r\nPaintwork & Exterior \u2013\r\n\r\nAll panels removed and glass out. External panels and inner front wings repainted in the original AC 640 \u2013 Bleu Delta. Internal doors, boot, bonnet and chassis paintwork fully stripped and repainted in the original satin black epoxy finish. Factory bonnet insulation replaced with a new item. Front and rear hydraulic cover panels removed and replaced. Front number plate housing and air intake repainted. All exposed chassis parts, channels, crevices inner arches, door inners were then treated with a coating of Dinitrol clear anti-corrosion wax.\r\n\r\nDisassembled light pods and repainted in the original finish. Replaced discoloured headlight surround trim. Replaced headlight levelling and swivelling linkage parts and springs.\r\n\r\nFront and rear stainless steel bumper sets removed, professionally polished and re-assembled with new fittings; refitted with new mountings. The upper and lower stainless steel pallas door and sill trims were replaced along with all of the rubber trims . All window brushes and door rubbers replaced. The central \u2018baguette\u2019 trim replaced.\r\n\r\nEngine compartment fully repainted and detailed \u2013 air filter, headlamp bar and spare wheel powder coated. Replaced spare wheel housing and repainted jack set.\r\nWheels shot blast and powder coated in Gris Rose \u2013 RAL 4077. Pallas wheel trim professionally polished.\r\n\r\nFitted door mirrors by CIPA to both doors. Repaired door locks.\r\nBoot hinges removed, resealed and refitted with stronger tension springs.\u2028\r\n\r\nMechanical & Electrical \u2013\r\n\r\nOriginal engine and gearbox fully dissembled and rebuilt to factory specifications.\r\n\r\nClutch replaced. Fuel pump and filter replaced. Fuel piping from the fuel tank to the engine bay replaced. All electrical connectors were either refurbished or replaced where necessary. \u2028\r\nNew rocker cover and spark plug tube seals fitted. New plugs \u2013 NGK BP6HS.\r\n\r\nUprated 123 electrical distributor fitted. New alternator fitted. \u2028\r\n\r\nRadiator re-cored, pressure-tested, powder coated and re-fitted.\r\nAll drive belts replaced (fan, alternator, hydraulic pump, centrifugal regulator) and correct tensions set. \u2028\r\n\r\nEngine oil and filter changed. Gearbox oil drained and changed. I have also just carried out a fresh oil and filter change as part of the first \u2018running-in\u2019 service.\u2028\r\n\r\nAll axle joints and steering joints cleaned, greased, and some rubber bearing seals that were split were replaced. \u2028\r\n\r\nNew engine mounts fitted.\r\n\r\nSuspension & brakes \u2028-\r\n\r\nReplaced all suspension spheres. Replaced rear suspension cylinder gaiters. \u2028\r\n\r\nRemoved and refitted rear brake drums, cleaned brake shoes and drums and powder coated in the correct green colour. Front discs and pads also replaced.\u2028\r\nBled and flushed LHM system. Replaced LHM type fluid with genuine LHM fluid from Germany (still made by Pentosin).
