Because Ford built them in small quantities relative to the GT and 5.0 LX hatchbacks. If I remember correctly, Ford built more GTs in one year (1988) compared to the total build of 5.0 notches from 86-93. Most of the notches were daily drivers and many were modified for drag racing (no longer seeing street duty). The fox platform is one the best for drag racing due to low weight and ability to put in any drivetrain you want. Extremely fun car and i didn't lose many races back 18 yrs ago specially not to any stock factory cars since cars didn't come with crazy HP like they do today, not even Vette's(ate those all day) \nBut anyway , I was out crusing/hunting one night and was headed south towards downtown Toronto. A cop in a marked single seater Z28 Camaro comes on the highway ahead of me So I stay back and pace him the speed he was doing and making the exact moves he was. He goes up to 110 km/H (in a 90 km/H zone ) I keep same speed and equal distance between us (about 75-100 meters/250-300 feet let's say) . He would slow down to 90kmh I'd do the same and keeping same distance as I do same speed. He changes lanes and I do exact same in exact spot as he did . He speeds up as do i, he changes lanes without signaling , I do same and so on and so on you get the idea lol. \nAt this point,I knew that he knew what was going on here and what I was doing haha. \nHe gets off the highway at a street that leads me directly right in to th heart of downtown Toronto (Bloor Street getting of the DVP, Don Valley Parkway) . Keep in mind it's like 2 am on a weekday and roads are pretty much dead.\nTaking this very long off ramp that twists through uphill and trees etc till we hit the main road, Bloor st. Then once we make a right on to that the road opens up to 2 lanes both ways and it's a 50 km/H zone . He stays ahead of for 2 traffic lights in the curb lane till after the second light he slows to a crawl where I'm forced to pass him lol, this is where the fun starts. I pass him on the left and glance over as I pass him and give him a hello wave. \nI knew exactly what he was doing and what was coming next. Soon as I passed him, not even 20 seconds later woop woop lights on(no sirens) . Ofcourse i signal, pull over and shut the car off to make it quiet cause that thing was friggin LOUD af, turbo back 3\" PIPE in to a burnt out straight thru Magnaflow or maybe a Brullen muffler and no cat. \nHe walks up to , says hello and right away says \"I know what you were doing\" , I just kind of chuckled and said good evening officer how are you etc. Then he goes \" just because I do what I do or did what I did doesn't mean you can\". I said yes sir I know , all smiling and stuff. He just ran my license quick and came back 2 min later no ticket nothing. \nReminded me don't do what I did cause the next cop might not be as easy on me as I was. Of course I agreed and thanked him and said good night and told me to remove the Euro license plate I had on under my official Provincial issued plate cause it can be confusing to cops and how he said I marked me as being warned about it and next time I'll get a ticket. I said yes , thanked him and said good night to him and wished him safety etc. \nWe both take off normaly and get to the next set of red lights and he pulls in next to me on my driver's side . This where the funny comes in, I lean towards him and say....wanna run as a joke and laugh.But then I ask him what's under the hood of that Camaro ?? I kid you not his reply was \" don't worry about, but let me put it this way, we call these the Porsche killers\" he says to me haha. In my head I'm like \"\ud83d\ude02\" and think to myself and was soooo darn tempted to come back with a whitty comment but I didn't wanna push my luck. But all along I'm thinking , maaaan, if you only knew what I had under the hood and how badly I would have walked that Camaro wow lol. \nAfter I said \"you wanna go?\" He did look at me , HUH and said \"in that thing??\" I causaly laughed but then got little serious and said, yeah....then he asked \"why what did I have in there ?\" I just smiled and shrug my shoulders and said a few things. I had a reply on the spot on the tip of my tongue \"I call it the Camaro killer\" but I didn't have the guts to do so but to this day i so wished I did say it. Durring all this I did mention how he only had one driver seat in there no passanger but I don't remember why the pass seat was out but I think it was where they stored equipment since the hatch was useless compared to a crown Vic and also said it was a pursuit vehicle and never transports anyone in it. \nThat was it, I waved good night as we took off at the lights and we went out seperate ways. I was took off at the lights super slowly in 2nd gear upshift to 3rd as soon as possible and 4th and coasted away quiet as possible lol. 2 am, downtown, concrete jungle , tall buildings , perfect for noise making of and when you want but not so good when you trying to keep your exhaust noise down lol. \nSo yeah, that was my kinda similar funny story and laughing at police and their fast cars \ud83d\ude01 Sorry for the long ass comment but I was in a story telling mood . \nP.S I still have that 92 Sonata , it's in storage for the last 10 or so yrs now and do plan to rebuild her and let her ride again, bigger much faster than ever cause these days , that 425 WHP won't get me too far with all these wicked fast cars everywhere. \nPlan is something like 650-700 WHP if I can get that out of pump gas and meth(we don't have e85 on pump) or buy barrels whatever if I have to and on the track race gas 1000+ who but that would be most likely be on a 2.4 stroker not the 2.0 4g63t although the 2L is capable of making a 1000 HP. \nSo yeah , now I'm done I swear I'll shut up and thanks for listening who ever actually read this . Not in the back seat as some might have anticipated but the front passenger seat.\r\n\r\nI was heading up to Mt. Baker with a buddy and his girlfriend for a day of skiing when I was pulled over by said patrol car. It was a typical Pacific Northwest soaker so the officer told me to join him in his cruiser while he filled out the speeding ticket. The penalty was about $100 which was devastating for an often broke college kid.\r\n\r\nWhile this was going on a call came over the patrol radio that a blue Vega had skipped the local gas station without paying, lo and behold not a minute later there it was speeding past. Without missing a beat the officer turned to me and said \"put on your seat-belt son you're going for a ride\"! I'll never forget the looks on my friends faces as we burned past them.\r\n\r\nIt wasn't long before we caught up to and pulled the Vega over. Fortunately I left my keys in the car and my friends were able to follow at a discreet distance. Aside from the sheer panic of seeing the car appear from nowhere at high speed, he about gave me a heart attack when he almost hit me. He also gave me a dirty look. \r\n\r\nI was hooked up in a train of 5 cars going 100+ on the Turnpike when a blue one, identical to this, came ripping up on us.
