The blower fixes the fact that it's original 1500CC engine was somewhat underpowered. The 1800CC MGB engine with five main bearings is much hardier than the original too. The five speed transmission should fix the problem of needing HIGH RPMs to get much speed out of it. My MGA turns 4300 RPM at 70 MPH. I'm curious what the 70 MPH RPM is on this car. (?) I couldn't see the tach or speedo during the test drive. He then sold this car (and three of his others) back to me in 2022 when he was liquidating his collection. At that time, we upgraded the car further with an aluminum radiator and new generator and regulator and sent it to another collector at that time in Oklahoma, who had the car for about a year (and very few miles before) he bought a waterfront house and sold me the car along with a few others to adjust his portfolio. The car has had two really nice owners since 2016, and the car has gotten better each time we have had it back. This week, the car gets a new high output starter. It\u2019s so hard to find a really well-sorted classic British roadster with tasteful upgrades, so I am always happy to have this one!\r\n\r\nThis is a really fun car to drive, very quick, with a great exhaust note! To all you blackwall tire lovers, that is the easiest thing to change in the world, and we can mount new blackwall tires for the auction winner if so desired. These rims look like new and white walls are from 2011 so they have aged out anyway. I will make a highway drive video today or tomorrow, and you can see they still drive and ride really nicely. You can also select both batteries for maximum cranking power, for example, on a cold day after the car has sat for a while. He put a lot of passion into this car in about 2015 and did a body-off restoration at that time and rebuilt everything, including the engine, which got hardened valve seats for unleaded fuel during that rebuild. He also rebuilt the differential with a more highway friendly ring and pinion. Everything else is new or has been replaced, including the entire front end and the five-speed Ford transmission. After the restoration, he drove the car from his home in Utah to two national MGA conventions, one in Whistler, Canada and one in Key West Florida. He received trophies at both events. He put about 15K miles on the car during his ownership, he built it to drive well and also to win shows. It has only gone about two thousand miles since 2016, as the car has been part of larger collections since the builder sold the car (about 17 K miles since the restoration). \r\n\r\nWe have recently refreshed hydraulic parts as needed, replaced the batteries and added an aluminum radiator and high output starter. I very much miss it but have moved on. I built it to enjoy and drive long distances. This was a total body off restoration. Things not mentioned were as follows; New wire harness, new headlamp buckets and headlamps. All new gaskets and seals throughout car. Also, I rebuilt the front suspension with new kingpins and machined, seated trunnions, along with precision tire balancing for smoothness. The front brakes are disk brakes from MGB along with calipers and braided brake lines front. New upgraded spring shackle grommets plus new brakes. All wheel hubs are new along with new wheel bearings as well. Master cylinder was replaced with remanufactured one along with all wheel brake cylinders. All exposed wood was sealed with a material like Rhino Liner for durability. The transmission shifter linkage was upgraded to short throw shifter. A custom boot for shifter was added.\r\n\r\nI noted lots of negative comments about the steering wheel I am a large man and I put the smaller steering wheel for easier ingress and egress when top (hood) was up. I built this car to enjoy and DRIVE long distances! One trip was from Utah to Key West Florida and up into Pennsylvania and touring through the midwest on way back to Utah. Total drive was over 7,000 miles. The next year, I drove it to Whistler BC for a British Car show where I was awarded first place in class. There are many, many more upgrades such as duel batteries, dual fuel pumps, heat and noise abatements. New gas tank and gauge. Gas cap upgraded to much nicer one (Alpha Romero). I did not install a stainless exhaust pipe and muffler as stated. The speedometer and other gauges were rebuilt professionally and the speedometer was zeroed to the present miles indicated are accurate since restoration. I am told the hood (top) was replaced due to sun damage but my original top was Mercedes fabric and fabulous! This car can be driven all day long at 75 MPH without concern. In my ownership, the car was extremely dependable and by the way, I don't care about the complainers about the white wall tires! They fit the car and looks far more classier than black wall tires, but that is just my preference! I didn't build the car for the blackwall lovers! By the way, if you wish to remove the blanking plate with MG logo and Harley Davidson clock, fine, but it will require a new plate and logo since it is mounted with a nut and threaded shaft.
