Started out as a abandoned car under a tree left to the elements. Lucky most of the one off Jolly parts were still on the car. It was a great learning experience since I did not know much about Fiats at the time. Each one was hand made and even the Jolly specific parts are unique to that Jolly. To make things more fun, I found that each individual piece of the chrome piping has a unique number stamped on the inside edge. \r\n\r\nIt never fails to amaze me what prices these cars can bring. What first got my attention is the car shown as the starting point is a 500 L, but the car being sold is a 500 D.\r\n\r\nGetting a certificate from Ghia club in Italy is not a difficult thing to do, if you are one of the good o boys in their circle. I have seen a few replicas with the certificate before, and there was a guy in the USA that brought in quite a few of their \"certified\" cars...\r\n\r\nThat being said, it seems that many of my clients who buy these cars for their collection don't really have issues with originality. It doesn't seem to matter if it's original as when the car was born after being created at Ghia, or original in the color, design of the wicker, finish on the top material, or even if it's original as to what date a stock Fiat was modified... It's the cute factor that wins out, and the desire of the folks who have the money to have one in their collection. \r\n\r\nThese cars are great fun, and should be a car that you should want in your collection. I enjoy very much completing a car brought to me to be made reliable, and all of the fun I get while test driving them before sending them home! I provide a lot of Jolly parts to Georgica Services, so I can say he has experience with these cars.\r\nKeep in mind that Ghia very well could have modified a 1964 European specification car to become a Jolly. I've been documenting them for 20+ years. While this car IS a Jolly, I believe that it was created much later than 1964 and not by Ghia. 100% of the recreations that I've seen have been 500 models because the 600 Jolly has so many more bodywork details which differ from the sedan version and these changes would be much harder to recreate in steel. While I'm not stating that this car is a recreation, it would be easier to do so from a later 500 model than from a 600 sedan. The proof would be in the 'before' and 'during' documentation. The Registro and other Jolly Club paperwork and badging is not proof of anything more than that someone paid a fee to register it. Much like the recent trend and ease of registering your pet dog as a Service Dog - you pay the fee and voilia' it's suddenly a Registered Service dog whether or not it has been trained.
