The cover over the side shift console is hanging down, which allows dirt to get in and wear the moving bits, which isn't so good. Easily rectified with a couple of tie-wraps, though.\r\n\r\nI also see stock heat exchangers with the exchanger wrapping cut off. I don't understand why people do this... Especially the people who then claim their car has headers! It does nothing for performance except shed about 1 kilo from the place that matters the least (down low, middle of the car) and renders the car less functional thereby.\r\n\r\nI dig the red interior. Especially with a blue exterior. I wanted to order my MINI that way but the complete red interior was not available when I ordered.\r\n\r\nI wonder if the 1.8 displacement was done by dropping a set of 93mm P&Cs in from a stock 1.8? The heads would need to be cut to take them, or possibly replaced with 1.8 heads. Compression would need to at least be looked at, since the chamber shapes are different between the two heads and the 1.8 was a pretty low compression motor. Was looking to find a new home for it little projects and all. I assume rotors as well. More noticeable at lower speeds when coming to a stop then brakes at cruise. The car presents quite well. Interior used incredibly good materials - high quality leather that smells the part and Euro carpets. Paint is really quite nice as well and single stage is always a nice change of pace. The car has its flaws and things that are a little tired or could be cleaned up, but overall the hard work is fun for a modified car. Some of the targa seals are older, carb could use some fine tuning. Runs good and put some miles on her after awakening her from her slumber, but I think a little rich and could come down a couple hundred on idle. Dash has some cosmetic flaws and there are just some things that are mix of the original car and the restoration. She is an older resto and would have some great easy winter projects if you really wanted to hone her in, but all of the heavy lifting is done and a nice car as she sits. That was a fairly popular mod; my first 914 had it. The stock WS washer is run by air pressure from the spare tire; there is a valve in the steering column that opens when you pull the stalk and the pressure pushes the fluid out much like a pump would. When the valve fails, it dumps the fluid in your lap. Electric pumps bypass this valve.\r\n\r\nAnother possibility is an ignition cut-off.
