My understanding (from the dealership and a very good diesel mechanic I used) who has done many bulletproof jobs is that the heads made in Mexico were subject to cracking and those made in Canada were not, due to the thickness of the casting between the oil passage and the coolant passage. Was also told there are no identifiable markings on the heads for one to tell which ones you have. Otherwise the 6.0 was a great engine and very capable of towing. Don't let any of that be a concern to the new owner, but keep it in the back of your mind (and the back of your bank account) that one day you may need to re-stud the engine. Looks like this one has either been driven on the beach or taken on a trip up north, but the surface rust underneath (mainly on untreated metal parts) can be easily addressed if important to someone. This one is a very fine example. It\u2019s the EGR cools system really has an issue. This EGR cools is place in the engine oil pane as a cooler. But when Ford did this is cause the EGR to break down and cause damage.\n\nI have a 2006 Ford 350 lariat like this and had to replace the EGR Twice. The EGR was not design for such a heavy truck work as these truck can do. \n\nThe solution is to put the EGR out side the oil pan in a separate oil core.
