Regarding the bumpers, when using the stock jack, the bumper will hit the front turn signal casting and crack it. The bumpers of my 1970 Mark III were mounted almost perfectly but still hit the trim, so if you do use a stock jack, I suggest you remove the lamps and trim prior to jacking. There also appears to be some surface rust on the left side of the trunk well, perhaps caused either by a leaking antenna gasket, or leaking rear plenum drain hoses. Repro plenum hoses are available but I found that a corrugated radiator hose the correct diameter and length works too, and is much more durable than the stock hose, not to mention much less expensive. The glued on rear \"Continental\" letters tend to fall off, so the new owner should find some extra letters to have on hand should they fall off. Lastly, check the power steering and windshield wiper pump hoses and replace them if hard. I had one break on me and I ended up burning up the pump. Changing the hoses and bleeding the system is also a pain, as you will have to probably bend some crescent wrench at a 90 degree angle or so in order to remove and install the hoses from the steering gear box. As I recall, these 460s had a nylon timing gear teeth that tend to disintegrate with age, so it's something that should be changed to prevent major engine damage. Only 5,000 were built between 1956 and 1957. Ford sold 80,000+ Mk III's between 1969 and 1971 making money on every one. \n\nRemember that the mechanical limits of the mechanical odometer on cars of this ilk are 100,000 miles. It is highly unlikely anybody spent what it took to buy this rig new and stored it away. Mark III's vacuum-operated \"servo\" system put on a great show -- moving the HVAC lever over a notch made a blown-out tire sound under the dash, but only once. Same with the power door locks and man were they quiet, unlike the nail guns you heard in a Cadillac. The Mark III had quieter power seats too. \r\n\r\nLater, when I got older and braver, I would move the gear selectors up and down because there was no ignition interlock back then, not even for the steering wheel. Sometimes there would be an oh crap feeling when the power brake booster was empty on heavy cars. Trying to steer a Mark III without power steering was challenging.\r\n\r\nAdjusting the seats and steering wheel into various driving positions, like the gangster and the bus driver, was always fun. Mark III's separate driver and passenger seats improved the experience, but GM products had a better tilt steering mechanism.
