Over the last couple of years I've run across a couple of these, one at a cars and coffee meet and the other in a Lowes parking lot, no joke intended, and I got to talk to both owners and get a good look at the car. I don't know who did the conversions of the ones I've seen but they both were built very well and looked pretty nice. They both had very luxurious interiors, tons of options and leather, very nice indeed! No oak240, I don't want an Escalade truck, but I don't want this either. This is not a ride for me, but I'm sure there is someone out there that would love to have this unique Cadillac. If this is built as well as the ones I've seen, then it's a well built as any El Camino or Ranchero is and has that unique factor that some folks just love to have. This Caddy was done right, the best I've ever seen! They really did a good job on the work that was done, the parts used, and the body and int. colors. The only draw back to the vehicle for me is the model year. I live in California, the worst state in the union for smog requirements. !975 and older vehicles do not require smog, damm missed it by one year! As nice a job that was done on the Caddy, I'm pretty sure it does not have the smog equipment needed to pass here in California, and it can be run it to some big bucks to make it smog legal. I don't know if I want to go thru another smog nightmare like I did last year on 1982 Toyota FJ-40 I had shipped from Maryland to California. It cost me more time and money than I had expected, and it was not at all fun. As the writer of Gene's biography, \"The Legendary Custom Cars and Hot Rods of Gene Winfield\", and as a personal friend, Gene was an employee at Traditional Coach Works, Ltd. and he worked one the Castilian station wagon line. I was a 17 year old kid working with Gene and Andre De Stefanis on various projects including the prototype Stutz Blackhawk convertible and the one off Eldorado Mirage II pickup. It is funny to me, to see how popular these Traditional Coach Works, Ltd. custom Cadillacs have become and how they have received such a following. Actually, these Cadillacs were the brain child of the late Jim Kribbs and Jack Patrick. Jim was a General Manager at Hillcrest Cadillac and Jack was a graduate of Art Center. The two got together, came up with these designs, then hired Andre, who was a prototype car builder from Italy and Gene, the car customizer, originally from Modesto, California. The rest is history.
