I believe it only had around 7,500 original miles at the time. \r\n\r\nOne day, I decided to put it for sale and met John, the future builder of this CX500. He was looking for a new project, having just completed an insane build of a bike some of you guys may remember...\r\n\r\nhttps://bringatrailer.com/listing/1992-honda-cb750-nighthawk-5/\r\n\r\nYup, he built that one too. He is a legitimate top notch builder, and having seen a handful of his builds I am ALWAYS very impressed. Funny story - The dark red tank on the Nighthawk is the original tank from this CX500! \r\n\r\nAnyway, John and have been back and forth on a few bikes... Including his current build, my old CB550 with Benji's Cafe Racer Tank, Seat, and exhaust. I told him if he turbos that one I'll definitely be buying it back! lol\r\n\r\nSo on to this CX500... Everyone who has seen this bike has to pick their jaw up off the floor, even people who aren't typically into motorcycles. It looks like a muscled up bulldog in person, and I think would be right at home hanging on someones wall as an art piece, although once you ride it I doubt you would just put it on display... The best way I can describe the ride is probably something like an old fighter WW2 prop plane. The cylinder heads sticking out by your knees, the engine sound, and the old school tires only add to the feeling. Its loud, fast, and makes you feel like a hooligan.\r\n\r\nA couple quick notes on the bike itself:\r\nThe motor was rebuilt with new rings, head gaskets, etc. It only has about 19 miles since the rebuild, and likely still needs some breaking in, as the exhaust is still a touch smokey. Cylinder compression is spot on in both cylinders, and it runs fantastic. Also, the left side of the tank has a very small ding and a very small paint chip. Otherwise, the bike feels like its new, both cosmetically and on the road. \r\n\r\nI am hoping this one finds a great new caretaker, as it has some sentimental value to both the builder and I.
