This car was reportedly originally Light Ivory (L80E) and maybe the seller @jmurphy can post a picture of the Karmann tag in the front driver side door jam. And while you are at it, might as well take a picture of the VIN tag on top of the front passenger side wheel well inside the front trunk, and the DOT VIN sticker with manufacture date on the driver side rear door jam (if it still exists). I normally would ask for the Engine Serial Number and the Chassis Number stamped into the right rear side of the rear trunk floor located under the passenger side taillight sometimes closer to the rear trunk lock, but that might be asking for too much for a car that I likely won't bid for anyway. There is a lot to like about a nice driver that you don't have to worry about whether any parts are original or even how it looks that much as long as it runs well enough to not leave you stranded on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. And lastly, yes the side shift conversion is a needed upgrade for pre-1973 914s. These Type 4 motors are versatile and sturdy. Your close to the car, so I would drive it if I were you. That said, in general, IMHO, this center mounted single carb is probably one of the least desirable options. Dual 40 IDF's is probably the most common aftermarket setup, unless you have a larger engine. Basically the radar reflected off the front hood into outer space and went right through the front windshield and your head and out the back. This is basically a UFO running in ground effect. I miss my 1972. It was underpowered so you had to gather speed on the downhill to pass the guy but I'm not sure there was ever a better handling car. I sure did miss air conditioning though. It ended up kissing a light pole when I came over the top of the hill within the speed limit only to see a side of the road sprinkler was watering the road instead of the grass and it put me in that mid-engine car spin that's pretty much impossible to get out of. In those days you didn't sue but if that happened today I'd sue the pants off that landscape company to get myself another one. This is nice to see although personally I'd take the rear spoiler off and I do think they look better in the original colors. This is not a car you want to hide.
