I had it with me while attending school in London, and had many long distance adventures up to John o Groats and down to Lands End. \n\nThey are wonderful long distance touring bikes, and the aerodynamic nose of the Stoye might help some, to overcome the weight of this rig, especially with a passenger. She has 32 hp which is more then the earlier R60/2. I have never tried riding up to Lake Tahoe. But as far as a nice sunny day weekend ride, she is plenty fast. The front forks have been rebuilt using stiffer springs so the braking is no problem. Remember BMW put sidecars on their motorcycles starting in the 1940's years before the Earles forks models. There is no problem with the mating of the Heinrich tank and the Police solo seat. And Yes, Gunther did put the wrong vin plate on back in 1971. Upgrading this 500cc twin to a larger displacement is as easy as a bag of hammers. Swap the pistons, jugs, heads and carbs from an R60 or R75 and you're done. A few hours of very simple bolt-on work. The parts are cheap and readily available.
