New rear end, new brakes F&R (backing plates, drums, cylinders, everything) total repaint in silver gray inside trunk, jams, under hood, interior dyed black over original red. Was original black car, had been four other colors. I drove it around the area while gathering parts for the upcoming restoration. All new emblems, fender skirts ($50) tires, what ever my PFC pay could afford. My new wife still back in WI would supplement the investment periodically. My dad flew out from WI so we could take the bird back. Ran 100 in day, 70 at night soft top stretched tight. Pit stop to change voltage regulator, put in new generator brushes, changed out one cut tire, and hit an ice storm at the WI border. We bought some spray deicer and a long handled scraper. I sprayed the deicer, Dad reached out and scraped, we kept going. When we arrived at home there were icicles 6 inches long hanging from the headlights curving out around the fenders. We were trying for 18 hours but with all the troubles it took us 24 hours for the trip. The bird went into storage awaiting the restoration. The new wife and I took our new 66 Falcon Futura back to Colorado. It awaited it till 2012 when it went to auction still bearing the Colorado title and the accumulated parts in the trunk. Went to a real nice guy who already had a 56 that he had made into a race car he ran at Road America. He was going to build my 55 into a faster version 'cause he had more money now. I got around $8k for it and miss it every time I see one.
