That elixir of 6 sidedraft Webers and the selection of exhaust piping, resonators and muffler produces what some have said, myself included, Is one of if not the Best, V12 Aria of any Ferrari model from the Enzo period. Sure, every Ferrari since has gotten faster and developed into a tour de force that outdoes the model before it, but they lack that Baritone Bravado these earlier cars have right from Maranello. I take nothing away from any of the newer Ferraris. Each has their admirers. But the C4 celebrates the Touring Ferrari of the time in grand style and sound. \n\nThe GTC/4 had air conditioning, and more significantly, power steering which really separated itself from its cousin, The Daytona, which many have described the steering as being \"truck like\". Again, each model has its purpose. Here in the C4, it's a much more relaxed experience but oh what a joy! \nGrab you favorite coffee or cigar and park a lounge chair on the sideline and just stare at the Pinninfarina body lines. Visual Nirvana! \n\nBtw, Some here have mentioned the similarity to the Maserati Khamsin designed by Bertone. I've always felt this model was a closer match to its 70s Maserati Counterpart, The Ghibli. \n\nMy Father has one of these C4s and I know its a personal connection for him every time he gets in it and drives it. AC is marginal, so don't expect modern cooling in hot weather. Valve adjustment and carb rebuilds done by the only shop in the area that I would trust to work on this type of car. \r\nSeller description appears accurate and thorough. Exhaust system looks tired, as most of them are after many years of use. Stainless systems are available but beware of ground clearance problems with aftermarket replacements. Sometimes you don't get lucky, and the more expensive the rebuild the greater the consideration. One shop showed one cylinder at 125 psi and 2 weeks later a different shop recorded 155 psi on the same pot. \r\nI would not be too concerned about these readings, as the car drives well, doesn't smoke, and doesn't foul plugs. ANY 50 year old Ferrari can require a motor rebuild unless done and documented in the recent past. The cost for a good shop to do a motor correctly is going to cost 50-70K. I spent 35K on one 15 years ago. Been there before. \r\nI would not expect the numbers to change by driving the car. Any time you purchase a vintage Ferrari, be prepared for surprises. \r\nAs andy_M1 said, it's a nice survivor and the purchase involves risk. I've had 4 - V12's.
