The transmission came out and got the output shaft circlip from VIrgina Motorrad . All the engine needed was a good scrubbing , same with the gearbox . It was already super tidy! These are wonderful bikes. The only comment I might make about this one is the old hose on the saddle bag mounts trick: this prevents the bags from rattling as they loosen progressively with age. Another old trick is to install eyelets on the top of the bags and run a X of bungee cords over the seat between them (same basic effect and helps carry the load too). The only negative thing about the model in general is the weak front brake, fairly easily rectified in the aftermarket now. The early paralever GSs had a somewhat low quality rear shock, with a WP shock option.
