We took the car to a local Toyota mechanic who was tasked with making the car mechanically sound and reliable. The big surprise came when he told us the rear LSD was toast. In researching new LSD options i found the OS Giken part for $1350 and the rear-end was fully rebuilt. This car was not built to be a full blown racecar and we did not have an unlimited budget for parts. Its a nice little street car that shows very well and is solid mechanically. The body and paint were done by a family friend who runs the Lithia Motors autobody shop in Medford Oregon. Happy to answer any other questions. But in the end, this is not the kind of car you buy and put in a plastic hermetically sealed bubble. This car can be had cheaply. It can be modified cheaply. It can be made to suit the new owner very easily.\n\nIf the body is in good shape, this car prime for serious fun. Just owning it makes you a instant star at any JDM car show. Take it to the track and enjoy that 7500 rpm red line. The car is dynamically capable and will put a smile on your face. These 80's cars are polarizing I get it. They do not have the charm of the 60's and 70's cars. And sometimes they are subject to bad body kits and poor quality modifications. But this car has not been altered so far that I cannot see the goodness left in it. \n\nIf you do not like the wheels, change them out. 15\" wheels are NOT expensive. I would find some OEM seats and put those back in their after a nice recover. I would also raise it up about an inch and then just drive it. Loved taking a trip down memory lane with this post. Mine was two-toned blue. So, seeing the two-tone attempt on this vehicle takes me back. Mine was light metallic blue on top with a dark, navy bottom. It was a rare factory option. So, my GTS Twin Cam 16 graphics on the dark bottom of the door looked sweet. The side profile of this car is so under appreciated. Yes, I too loved the pop up headlights, but loved em on my Preludes and Integras that I owned too. Yes, the engine could be beaten and revved. The rear end was a hoot in Minnesota snow and rain conditions. I picked mine up for $3500 in 1995 at an Acura Dealership in White Bear MN. The interior was light and dark blue, so it complemented the car well. The factory suspension sucked, but like most are saying, the fact that the LSD rear was in such a light car made this thing a prime drifter. The biggest quirk I always laughed at was the lumbar hand pump for the driver's seat adjacent to the center console. If you had a Corolla Coupe or Celica of the same era, you'll remember what I am talking about. Good luck to the seller. The presentation is honest, he is just not as knowledgeable about this car. I literally just made a spur of the moment decision and made an impulse bid of $6800 (flipped 86) thinking it would keep going but somehow I ended up with it. I've had 3 of these cars in the past and still have one that is full drift car with an SR20DET in it, but its nowhere close to being a street car which is why I bought this one. For those concerned that I may strip it out and race it, not to worry, this one is staying mostly the way it is.
