It was exported to Germany and sat in a collection. It came back in 2017. It was sold at an RM auction and they issued an AZ title. Which they do on most cars along with other auction houses. I would assume it had German paper work and because of the age they issued a non actual miles title. Carfax picked it up as a brand. It went to Canada and came back in 2020. A Montana tile was issued, clean. I purchased the S from part of a collection last year. We went through it in my shop and checked out very well. I replaced the T belt, access belts, rollers, water pump, thermostat, coolant flush. Driveline fluids, oil service, brake fluid flush. New tires. The interior is in impeccable condition. Looking at all the plating in the engine bay, I would have to say it shows as a 40k mile car. The records I have in the listing is all I could find. We sold it for a friend of mine who did a multi-trade car deal with the 2nd owner who was from Wyoming. That owner had bought the car in 2007 with 15k miles from someone in Idaho, where it might've originally been sold.\n\nHe kept the car for 7 years and added another 15k miles. It was a fair weather car that the owner would do the winter storage routine for the next 7 years until he got tired of dealing with it. \n\nMy client/friend never saw the car as it got shipped directly from Wyoming to us in SoCal. When we got the car, it didn't have many records, but the timing belt had been done a few years/few thousand miles prior.\n\nWe still had our local Porsche specialist go through the car to verify condition, which was pretty darn close to a reference example. He performed a compression test at the time and the results were even across all 4 cylinders. We also did the following services:\n\noil service\nhood shocks\nwindshield & seal (broke on shipping due to bad battery and the shipper dropping the jump pack on the glass...watched it happen in front of me...doh!)\nNew ignition switch\nBattery\nService A/C system\nStarter\n\nWe sold it in May of 2014 to a BIG collector who had a home here in SoCal as well as in Switzerland. He finally shipped it to Switzerland in August of 2014. The car didn't move at all as his garage was more of a museum. He still had people regularly service his collection. He was going (I think) to sell it at auction in Switzerland, but don't think he ever got around to it. Eventually (around mid 2020), he shipped it back to his SoCal ranch. He had mentioned that he was going to have us sell it around then, but he ended up selling it to someone in the states. \n\nIt's great to see it looking just as good as a decade ago. This was the first Turbo S I drove and it made such an impression that I bought a white one for myself years later. I still think these are some of the best vintage Porsche values out there.\n\nSide note, out of the 720 (est) 1988 Turbo S that came to the U.S., (1,650 est world wide), around 340 came in the silver rose combo.
