His drugstore, Rex Hall\u2019s Rexall was doing quite well and he felt it was time to reward himself. (This was long before the Piggy Wiggly added a pharmacy, so he still had the market for medicine to himself.)\r\n\r\nDang it was a beauty. The \u2018Newspaper Appearance Package\u2019 was stunning. (Black and White and Red all over.). The Four-on-the-Floor was the sugar that made the bitter pill of those $129 monthly payments easier to swallow.\r\n\r\nOne morning Joe Bob Birdwell came flying into the parking lot of the pharmacy and slammed on the brakes of his Bonneville, screeching to a stop right next to Rex\u2019s black Buick. It seems that Joe Bob\u2019s wife, Joleen had tearfully told her husband that she had been horribly insulted by Rex over the phone and Joe Bob was coming for his pound of flesh.\r\n\r\nBefore Joe Bob could even get a word or two out, Rex told him to calm dow and listen to his side of the story.\r\n\r\n\u201cThe alarm didn\u2019t go off this morning, so I didn\u2019t get up on time. I skipped breakfast and walked out to the Wildcat and realized as I was about to get in that I had locked the front door behind me, leaving the keys to both the house and the car inside.\r\n\r\nI had to break a window to get back inside and retrieve the keys. Trying to make up for lost time, I was speeding to the store when Earl pulled me over and gave me a ticket. Three blocks later, the Buick has a blowout. I finally get here and there is a line of people waiting to come in and I hear the phone ringing off the wall inside. Just wanted to give a bit more info on the Wildcat. You might see in the paperwork a little sign made by my mother (my father had horrible penmanship) about the origins of this \"Special Order Car\" The William Hill who ordered the car for his son was apparently one of the owners/entrepenuers of the \"still in business\" Broyhill furniture brand. Like it reads in the listing, his son was sadly killed in Military Action. Apparently the car sat for some time after this tragic event. At some point in the early-mid eighties my dad purchased the car and babied it in a climate controlled garage with his other automotive joys. My brother and I would joke only half kiddingly that my dad liked his cars more than us. My dad passed away this past June. As much as I would love to keep one of his cars ,I'm feeling the pinch of two teenage kids who will be college bound in the next few years. Please excuse for some of the aftermarket items on the car (search lights,tachs etc) my dad was a product of the 50's so in his mind the more chrome the better. Car rides and drives wonderfully. Top is in very nice working condition, I had a new soft top motor installed fairly recently. I owned a 63\u2019 LeSabre with a 4 speed, and when I was very young, back in the 70\u2019s I would buy cars from the local salvage auctions. One week there was a 1963 Wildcat Convertible with a 4 speed trans, bucket seats full center console with tach. The car had no options. Medium blue with a white top, blue interior. The car\u2019s under hood wiring had shorted and burned. As a rule of thumb I didn\u2019t buy burn jobs or floods. But even at that time, I knew this car was very rare. So I bid $125. The car sold for $130. Well, needless to say I still regret missing this one. After research, this was 1 of 7. While most Buick 4 speed cars in the early 60\u2019s came with the shifter shown, 1963-1964 cars with bucket seats had the option of a full console (standard on Wildcat). The shifter was mounted so the shift knob pointed toward the dash, like a Shelby. Very cool, very unique. Also, the 64\u2019 was available with the 425 nailhead, dual quad, and 4 Speed trans- WOW Talk about rare. \nWhoever wins this auction will own a very rare piece of GM History. The dual exhaust exited through the bottom of the rusted rear quarters by way of a pot metal trim piece . I could not afford to think about a restoration at the time and I drove it a bit and sold it to a member of the Olds Club of America . He was going to use it to convert his pristine 65 Starfire Vert to a stick . This car is much cooler on a higher level . I love it .
