I've had two of these, in varying degrees of condition, so I know them well. I am not familiar with lifting these, but the buyer may want to look at replacing strut rod bushings. When I replaced these on my last one it made a HUGE difference in drivability. A lot of mechanics anymore aren't really familiar with strut rods and don't stress the importance of them. This is an INCREDIBLY rare build spec (in Eagle 30's, two doors were the least common body style, manual less common than auto, and Limited trim less common than DL, so you put all this together, and it is probably close to one-of-a-kind), and I would have preferred to see the car preserved in its original condition. These were some of my thoughts when I built them. Some were practical reasons, and most were for fun.\r\n\r\nIn our part of the world tree saplings, trees with down limbs are part of much of the landscape. (I needed real protection here to protect the cars sheet metal.) \r\n\r\nFrom watching the Baja 1000, slight bumper bumping is used as a communicator that the car behind you wants you to pull over so they can pass. (Not likely ever going to happen to me or this car.) I also wanted them to be intimidating looking. The bumpers are made of 8\u201d x 4\u201d rectangular aluminum tubing with a \u00bc\u201d thick wall. Premium tough stuff. Ends are welded up properly with caps. \r\n\r\nSee how the ends near the wheel wells are angled? Potential criticism by Robert Cumberford inspired me to follow the contour of the wheel wells. Ok, he was not going to critique my car but I was trying to be a little of a designer and tasteful.\r\n\r\nI have the original bumpers (see photos) and the new brackets I made attach in the same place the AMC factory ones did. So you can put the original back on and scrap the aluminum for $$.
