I do recall, when a trailer was attached, the rear end was a bit lower until the rear air shocks leverled the car. If you backed out of a drive where there was a big dip at the curb, the bottom of the tongue and the emergency chains would scrape just a bit until you were out on a flat surface. The tires date from then. This car was very obviously very well maintained to say the least. That V8 will probably go another 200k if it's maintained properly. Just a few thoughts on a few comments that I've read. Many of these wagons were built without the third seats, instead it was an extra stowage compartment. My family owned a 1973 LTD Country Squire that had that set up. Ours was nowhere near as loaded as this...only a 351 Windsor V8, manual windows, manual locks, no a/c and vinyl seats. Was still a great family car! \r\nAs for the engine not running all that great, these cars were known for needing carburetor rebuilds and adjustments. Ours ran very rich at cold start with the automatic choke, had to give it the gas a few times to \"clear it out\" and kick the choke or high idle off.
