To answer a few questions, the bonnet bulge is not correct for the 1600 and I pondered over removing it in favor of the flat bonnet but decided to keep it as it adds to the lines of the car and looks great from the drivers seat, the a/c system is from restored air and is their bantam unit. It was the smallest a/c and heat unit I could find so I installed it during the assembly. I am sure it could be retro fitted to a complete car. It does involve sacrificing the glove box although very worthwhile. The wheels are a minilite copy 13 by 7 with a 205/60/13 bfg tire, again I thought about running a 15 inch wheel with a low profile tire but this takes away the vintage look. It was interesting to note that there was also an XKE Jaguar there but the crowds ignored it and were all standing around this Marcos. It is also interesting that this is the only car I am aware of that had a truly wood chassis. I am often asked if my Morgan has a wood chassis and have to politely reply, \"No, it doesn't. It has a wood-framed body and a steel chassis. An automotive writer got frame and chassis mixed up causing all the confusion. The Morgan's body is wood-framed like an MG T-series car or a Model A Ford. The Marcos is the only car I know with a wooden chassis.\" With that, hopefully I educated another one of the misinformed. Parts and the help of Marcos Heritage Spares adds to that enjoyment. These cars have extremely deep foot wells with a setup very similar to the TVR M's and are nothing like fitting into a Lotus Europa. I would say girth would be more of an issue then length on fitting. When I have my Europa parked directly beside the Marcos it will cast a shadow overtop the Marcos but the Marcos will stick out in length. He ordered one with a Volvo B-18 w/od. An exotic car with a dependable as an anvil drivetrain. What could possibly go wrong. Well, a lot as it turned out, but it really never mattered because that car was the center of attention wherever it went. I believe if it had been assembled using one of the present day epoxies that seal out moisture so well like WEST, it would have changed the way limited production cars were made. Driving it required similar skills as motorcyclists need to survive because you needed to assume you were not seen by many other drivers. While not as fast as his previous heavily \u201cbreathed on\u201d 62\u2019 \r\nCorvette, it handled and stopped way better and was more agile and fun. A little like we imagined piloting a fighter jet.\r\nOne of my favorite memories of the Marcos was a day we were driving along about 40mph or so with the windows open. We were both smokers then and when John flipped open the cover of the ash tray, located behind the shift lever on the console which in this car you reached UP to shift, the contents were pulled out and became a stable little tornado between us. When we closed the lid the tornado collapsed covering us in ashes and cigarette butts.\r\n\r\n I had a 58\u2019 Porsche coupe that was rusted too bad to afford to repair. It was delivered on 19 May 1971 to USAF Captain Wendell Phillips, who as stationed at RAF Alconbury. As the company was already in the process of bankruptcy, Marcos had to get permission to build the car from a Mr. Ehlers, Esq, as instructions had previously been given to cease all production. Because Captain Phillips paid for 3V5967 in advance, permission was granted to build the car on 13 April 1971. It was driven in England for 6 months and then brought to the US and on the road until 1982, when it was put up with a clutch slave cylinder issue. It sat in a storage shed until 2017, when I acquired it from Captain Phillips.
