It was on eBay about 10(?) years ago when it lived in Seattle, and I was the second highest bidder. \n\nThe eBay seller was (if I remember correctly), the original owner\u2019s grandson. He inherited the car from her, and took it to John McCoy of Omnitech to have some restoration work done on it. When John explained how original the car was, they decided to restrict the restoration work to the undercarriage. There are still pics of the car on John\u2019s site. \n\nFunnily enough, the high bidder on the eBay auction lives about 1 mile from me, and so it came to live in my neighborhood. The winning bidder is a classic car dealer named Brian Peters of Motoring Investments in San Diego. Brian sorted out some stuff, and brought the car up a few notches, and then put it up for sale on his site for something like $40k!! It stayed listed on his site for YEARS, and the price slowly came down over the years. When it got down to about $22k, I went and saw the car in person. I needed it like I needed a hole in the head, so I gave him a standing offer of $15k, but that was about 2-1/2 years ago, and I never followed up on it. I believe the pics can still be found on Brian\u2019s website. \n\nThe bench seat and column shift make this car a unicorn. The engine compartment and trunk area are amazingly original. The interior is also wonderfully original, although it had a few localized repairs under Brian\u2019s ownership. The undercarriage has been restored, as already mentioned. The exterior paint is believed to be mostly original, although there are a few touch ups....most notably, the right front fender has been resprayed and the color and texture are not right. The car also has some noteworthy denting in the sills, and while they don\u2019t pose any structural issue, it\u2019s a shame they are there. \n\nUnless the engine has been swapped recently, it was the original 1200 cc when I saw the car in person a couple of years ago.
