I got mine approx 4 years ago and it is not only D.O.T. compliant, but is CARB certified here in California. It was done by the previous owner and it wasn't difficult at all, you just need a dose of patience. Mine is of similar mileage, and it has been faultless. I use it mainly for track days or giving rides to multiple passengers on recon laps before they head out on to the Thermal track. The car could use a little more exhaust sound but that could also be due to my age and failing hearing. I did add some goodies for reliability from 2Bennett as they are aware of the temperatures in our Summer months here. Only thing that has been a head scratch-er is getting a second key fob that will work the alarm. It seems that the US is a different radio frequency and as such, I can't buy and import one. The new owner will certainly be getting a sleeper that will surprise his passengers or anyone trying to keep up on the road or track. One item I did add that was a huge positive was a CAE shifter as the stock one is a bit sloppy.
