When Bill first bought this car we spoke about it at length, and Bill was fully committed to bring it to its full potential. It started out as a very nice driver when he purchased it a few years ago, but like myself he felt that the car deserved to be brought to market standing tall which it now does !!! I happen to be good friends with a restoration specialist who executes very high level nut and bolt rotisserie restoration on SLs and his cars once completed they are trailered to shows to collect awards, which they do. I personally know of a 190SL he spent over 4 years on restoring. The cost of the restoration and the car far exceeded that vehicles potential retail value even at its best day on the auction block. While Bill did not restore this car to win a best of show award at a high level concourse event, make no mistake about it, a great deal of time, money, and frustration went into bringing this car up to it\u2019s current level. \n\nI am finding that these days there is a growing number of enthusiasts who desire a drop dead gorgeous vehicle that can be driven and enjoyed. That is this car !!! Not everyone wants to drop well over retail value into a restoration for a trophy that will spend its lifetime as a display piece. If you look at the restoration efforts that went into this car, ask yourself if you really want to spend the years, money, and aggravation restoring one yourself. I like to be sure you have had a chance to understand what we did to this car and hopefully studied all the pictures and videos. We all want to make sure that the \"right\" bid is placed so we can find a new home for this stunning 190SL... So why bid more........\r\n\r\n My son and I spent nearly 2 years painstakingly trying to improve every inch of this Benz. We studied all the best cars and did the best we could using those cars as a model for ours. Every piece of exterior chrome is either new, replated or near new. All the best leather was purchased from GAHH along with the recommended carpet. We spent countless hours sanding and buffing and preparing the fresh paint job to as close to perfection as we could get it. We tried our best to make every inch of the exterior look as new as possible along with greatly improving the all original interior.\r\n\r\nWe covered every inch of the engine bay and undercarriage, again, to make it match the exterior of the car. We want our client to be able to put it on a lift and be as proud of the undercarriage as the rest of the car! We spent and spent and spent, to the tune of about $65,000 in parts and labor. Which much of the labor we did ourselves, and those parts and labor were billed to us at wholesale, so anyone else would have spent about 20% more. \r\n\r\n We serviced everything that needed to be done. Every single fluid was flushed and replaced. All new brake lines, new fuel lines and brand new exhaust from the manifold back. Correct Mercedes muffler and tailpipe. A brand new Mercedes battery! SO much was done!! \r\n\r\n Tons of service records and all the receipts to back up our work! We kept the phones hot with Authentic Classics, Mercedes Benz and K&K manufacturing over the last 2 years. I am sure those guys are going miss us!! \r\n\r\n At this point I would LOVE for it to go to an enthusiast that will love and care for it and appreciate what we did do! This was a learning experience and has created a lot of memories for my son and I!! This is a special car and not only deserves a special home, but a strong finishing number. This is a difficult and time consuming scope of work which requires a lot of patience.
