I put one car head on into a wall (not my fault of course!), welded on a new front subframe and the car was better than before. We joke that all the welds made the chassis stiffer. I would not be scared at all of a properly repaired Miata. I've bought tons of fenders too - cheap and in spec miata almost a consumable. I'm not saying this car has had any significant damage.
