I sold the AC system to a former friend (long story) who took the car and removed the AC so that he would know how to put it back on his SS Nova coupe. AFAIK the only differences between it and the \"standard issue\" 283/195 HP in this car are a 4 barrel carb/intake and a dual exhaust. They used the same cam, pistons, and heads. So it would be a nice, stock-appearing upgrade that would add a little more oomph if you could source a correct (and correctly-dated) carb and intake. My older brother sold me his 67 (283/AT non-SS) when I was in my teens and I drove it a few years and loved it. Had to sell it when I moved to CA for my first career job. Found a 67 SS (327/4spd) in the late 80's that was pretty rough but fast (for me). Hauled it around from house to house for the next 20 years. A wife and 2 kids later it was time to make a decision...restore or resto mod? I dismantled the car in 2004 and found a shop to give it a media blast and see what was underneath. Should have sold it for scrap right there...it had been patched and pieced together in so many places. Every panel had issues except the roof! But, emotion takes over...after all I've had it longer than the wife! Stayed at that shop for several years with only some minor patching and a coat of primer - my rookie mistake in picking a shop. Then we moved back to CO with an empty primed shell and parts. This time I found the right shop who did a fantastic job on the body and paint. Finally finished in 2015. He knew that was a rotten idea for a first timer but I insisted.\n\nWent to take a leak after my first beer and damn if while washing my hands the mushrooms didn't kick in and I went straight to the examining my hands with utter fascination thing, turning them over and around, holding them out, wondering who designed these unreal things. The yellow Impala with all that black and chrome and the cool fastback shape and the fake spinner hubcaps and the slight hot-rod rake was parked across the street in front of a giant forsythia in full bloom.
