By 2000, all the little quirks like the earthing block, clutch baskets, weak 4th, etc., were pretty much ironed out. Plus the '00 and '01 had the latest injection system.\r\n\r\nThis particular example is unique in that it's all stock down to the indicators, rear mudguard, no bar risers, and it even has the stock mirrors on it in case you need to make a close inspection of the elbow pads on your jacket while riding, LOL. He raved about it which led me to heading to the dealership and trading in my 1998 Honda CBR 600F3 for a 1998 Triumph Daytona T595. It was also a fantastic bike. I know his certainly didn't have 135,000 miles on it though. That's quite a testament, and good for you! I doubt that I've put that many miles on all of my motorcycles combined. \r\nMy 1998 Triumph had a bit of lag in the throttle though, but not this Speed Triple. In addition to the aforementioned T509 which I had for ~25 years/135k miles, I also had a 2000 955i Daytona as a track bike for about 10 years/5000-6000 track miles, so I do have some experience with these bikes.\r\nThe '97-'98 T500 (T509/T595) had starting issues which was traced to water intrusion at the harness connection at the clutch safety lever. This was corrected either with the new harness when they went to the new, one-year-only injection system on the '99 model OR when the harness was effectively redone again with the 3rd gen injection system on this bike, it was a long time ago, so I don't remember exactly. They also corrected the earthing (grounding) block at that time as well as the optional alarm delete jumping plug. Both of those caused starting issues, albeit infrequently.\r\nIf you're asking about sprag clutches, those were a real issue on the earlier T300 series bikes and then I heard of a few on the first year (1997) T500 models, although I started my '97 T509 almost literally a million times without issue. Honestly, I haven't seen a bike with those still intact in ages. It also has the original turn signals, those have been NLA for quite a while and were obscenely expensive even when they were available.\r\n\r\nSecond, in 2000, Triumph deleted the bungee cord bobbins from the center tail section bolt (the one right by where the seat and pillion meet) and added that bungee hook to the rear peg bracket. This led to many a tail section getting paint damage where the bungee cords would rub on the paint. Also a fair bit jealous ; )\n\nYou may already be aware, but I would keep an eye on a couple bits as you start to put some (s)miles on this lovely moto. All this info is readily available on the 955i forums. When I had mine, I was grateful to have been told to replace the quick-disconnects for the fuel tank with metal versions (as I believe the OEM versions were plastic and prone to leaking). A Daytona style clutch cable with a bend at the lever was more suitable as well as the OEM version could fray with time. I\u2019d also lubricate the the speedometer cable, and mind the metal fasteners on the back of the clocks as they were a bit soft on mine.
