The LT77 gearbox and the heavy duty rear axle (derived from the Rover SD1) added at least a couple hundred pounds to the car.\nThese early cars are quick and easily flingable around corners. The brakes even seem adequate. The 90 horsepower and the gearing make the car pretty nice around town. I didn't get Keith's car out on the highway, but I imagine the engine would be pretty busy at highway speeds.\nThere is starting to be a growing appreciation among TR7 fans for the early cars like this one. I purchased this car as an incredibly straight, unmolested and rust-free example needing only a mechanical refurbishment and some electrical fettling. I've methodically gone through most of the mechanical and electrical systems of the TR7 with the goal of making it completely reliable for 100-500 miles sorties in the adjacent Texas hill country. As attested, once the 7 was sorted it has been a joy to own, and I have made some great memories with this car. \r\n\r\n**I'll work with the BaT staff to upload driving and cold start videos shortly so stay tuned! **\r\nIn the meanwhile, I'm disappointed that some of my exterior photos appear to make the paint appear to be discolored. I didn't say it would be easy but it can be done. A lot of missing equipment can be found on Ebay like the EGR valve which was used on a number of different Brit makes. One thing you have going for you is most smog tech were born after the car was built and not only have they never seen a TR7 they've heard of one!
