I absolutely love the interior on this. The AMC 360 is pretty darn bullet proof. I would prefer a quadratrac but the select trac works really well too. Finding one with working AC is also incredibly rare. \r\n\r\nI currently own a 1980 \"Super Chief\" from Brian ChuChua's dealer in Costa Mesa. The Howell fuel injection conversion makes a huge difference in reliability and also really helps with getting passed Cali emissions. I would trade it out for this one in a heartbeat... We camped and meandered along the way, not wanting to miss anything on a journey that we knew we would be one of the highlights of our lives.\n\nAt that time, most of the Alaska Highway and side routes were unpaved, and the trip took 32 days, mostly due to the many side trips and camping opportunities we enjoyed. Highlights of the trip are too numerous to mention, but one very frightening moment occurred at Ethel Lake in the Yukon - I was returning to shore in our cheap inflatable rubber raft after catching a nice fat lake trout for our dinner. My future wife was sitting on the shore awaiting my arrival when a large brown bear came out of the scrub directly behind her and raised up on two feet, no more than 10 feet away. She never noticed. I started waving and screaming for her to back away, but she couldn't hear me because of the wind blowing down the glacial lake, so she stood up and started waving back! The bear watched her for a minute, then dropped to all fours, turned and slowly ambled away.\n\nWhen I finally got to shore I explained what I had seen. She blanched and almost fainted. After she recovered I asked her why she started happily waving back to me when I was obviously frantic with concern. She replied that she believed I was just excited from catching the big lake trout!\n\nAll's well that ends well and we are still married after all this time. We did however, sleep in the Jeep for the next couple of nights...\n\nOh, and the Jeep performed flawlessly for the entire journey - We had been on flooded logging roads, almost impassable Cat D-9 trails and on the slopes of stupid-steep mountain trails with nary an issue.
