But it is much, much more than that. \r\n\r\nThe 1955-65 Chrysler letter cars were all very low production. These cost as much as an Imperial or Cadillac and were the fastest cars their size on the road...any road, anywhere. \r\n\r\nChrysler built 400 of the \"J's\" and made it the rarest of the letter cars. More than that the car came with 390 horsepower, the most offered in any standard letter car. The automotive press fell over themselves with praise with multiple page spreads. There was nothing else quite like it available at any price. \r\n\r\nHere's the thing those who don't know letter cars ought to know. No car its size went as fast down the quarter or through the turns as a Chrysler letter car. These are stiffly sprung, with body motion well controlled using stiff antisway bars. Steering was quicker than that of any other American car (a bit over 3 turns lock to lock). And 390 horses breathing through shortened Ram Induction tubes makes it a sleeper par-excellence. \r\n\r\nYeah it may appear as a old white Chrysler needing some work. But its really a very rare, extraordinarily fast coupe that will in good tune suck the headlights from many a car, new or old. Those of you looking for a car to fix up with plenty of future upside to go along with its sheer exhilaration in driving, this is an opportunity. But believe me, they are all wonderful cars - whatever and whichever model you can swing. From 1955 through 1965 Chrysler letter cars were formidable machines, overpowered, under braked but with brilliant handling even by todays standards if the tires are any good. Any 300 is a hoot, with an endless well of throbbing power. Its altogether quite irresistible. You can burn half a tank of gas after work but before dinner and have a blast doing it. The car DOES NOT have its original J block. It has a 1965 413 block in it. I traded for the car from a friend and never thought to ask or check when I bought the car so I apologize for saying it was. I figured the car was so original there was no way the block was ever swapped. \nOnly the pass side backup light works, probably just a bulb out on the drivers side. Horn works (never used it before), I think the power antenna is connected to the radio and since that doesn\u2019t work the antenna doesn\u2019t work. I never messed with the vacuum advance, I know a lot of Mopar guys just disconnect it because they think it runs better. I never had a reason to mess with it. Also it\u2019s the drivers rear window that doesn\u2019t work, the pass rear does work.
