Side patches dont fix interior of frame. Bottom side on the inside is gone. Shackle area and bolts inside will look like two corroded off pencil points. Had to many of these cut apart and know better. Yes patches by spring mount to frame cracked out pic 56, they tried laying flat steel on bottom side and some welds around it. Frame still just at weak where mount is. When I see CJ frames like areas in pics 56, 60,61,63 I walk away. Means rest of it is almost gone. Rusted fatigued out. A weld is a weld. Salvage at this point and look for a frame. Lots of solid CJ7 frames still out there. Appears pic 65 showing passengers side rear wheel seal wetting out. See welds on driveshaft \ud83d\ude32 not saying dont buy it. YJ tub, could maybe sell off. Scrap frame, part out engine and some drivetrain. Have a doner CJ7 that needs parts. That T176 transmission is a great transmission worth rebuilding. But before you do that, just check two top pins and shifter where pins set for wear. May just be a $5 fix\ud83d\ude09 Just beware of what your bidding on and bid accordingly that makes you comfortable. At first glance and if you do look at the pictures quickly you will not see these areas. When considering bidding this is the time to add the cost of a new frame or the cost of a good used frame and whether it is worth the cost to replace it. Now that it was pointed out all of the areas of the frame that have been patched and welded you now have to think about the engine that is in it now. That 350 V8 engine has a lot more horsepower and torque in the factory 258 6 cylinder engine had. Looking at the VIN number this came out of the factory with the 258 and a 3-speed transmission. That 350 is going to put a lot more stress on the frame depending how you're going to drive it and is just something to consider. When they mounted them they used different rivets too they used star rivets from the factory. In 1979 they also had a Data plate sticker mounted on the dash right where the driver side speaker is located. They did not have a speaker on the drivers side in 1979. That sticker had the Vin number on it along with Gross vehicle weight and tire pressure. In 1981 they stopped using the sticker started adding the speaker and went to the tag on the wiper motor cover. They also had the Vin tag on the fire wall in the engine compartment on the drivers side below the brake booster.
